Evart baseball team splits with Glen Lake

EVART – Evart’s baseball team split with Glen Lake on Wednesday in non-league baseball action.

Glen Lake won the first game 9-8. Will Weinberg was the losing pitcher allowing five hits and striking out three batters.

Jericho Van Scoyoc had two singles and two RBIs. Ty Sochocki had a single and RBI Billy Conklin two singles and an RBI and Josh Dorn a double, single and RBI. Weinberg, Christian Booher and Justin O’Dell had singles.

“That was a tough game,” Evart coach Josh Johnson said. “We really battled. We were down 8-2 and came back against a very good pitcher.”

Evart won the second game 7-3. Carter McLachlan was the winning pitcher, walking one and striking out four.

Sochocki had two singles, Dorn a single, double and two RBI, Hunter Maxwell a single and RBI and Danny Witbeck a single.

Evart plays Friday at Big Rapids.

EVART — Evart lost 10-7 and 16-1 to Glen Lake on Wednesday.

Carlie Gostlin was on the mound for both games.

The first game was 10-7. Evart had singles from Natalie ODell, Felicia Nelson, Cyana Dellar and Savannah Ross

Freshman Deanna Conklin led off the game with a triple.

Livia Hopkins finished the night with three hits with a single in the first game, a double and a triple in the second game

Evart lost the second game 16-1. Hopkins had the only two hits for Evart.

“We had some mental errors tonight, but are showing improvement each game,” Evart coach Cheryl Speet said.

Evart plays at Big Rapids on Friday.
