LAKEVIEW — Evart lost 6-5 to Belding and 3-1 to Farwell at the Lakeview Invitational on Saturday.

In the first game, Layne Nadig took the loss, going 4 1/3 innings and allowing five hits and three runs, and striking out five. Billy Conklin and Nadig both had singles, while Josh Dorn had a single and double. Nadig and Cam Martin both had singles and one RBI.

In the second game, Trevin Ladd took the loss, going 4 1/3 innings and allowing two walks on four hits and striking out four . Jericho VanScoyoc and Josh Dorn had two singles apiece while Garrett Johnson and Nadig both had singles.

Evart is 7-10.

Evart 1-8, Pentwater 12-2

Evart dropped the first game of Friday's nonleague doubleheader with Pentwater, 12-1, but won the second 8-2.

Dorn, Martin and VanScoyoc had singles in the first game. Justin O'Dell took the loss.

Hunter McLachlan took the win in the second game, going 4 1//3 innings, allowing two runs and two walks while striking out four. Van Soycoc, Dorn and Johnson had singles. Ladd had a single and double. Cam Martin also had a single and two RBIs. Johnson and Hakan Karakoyun had RBIs.

"We played really lousy that first game," Evart coach Josh Johnson said. "I was disappointed. But they really bounced back that second game. I was happy with that."

Evart improve to 4-0 in the Highland Conference after a 16-0, 8-2 doubleheader sweep over Lake City on Wednesday.

Nadig was the winning pitcher in the first game, going five innings, allowing four hits and one walk, and striking out six.

Conklin and Dorn had three hits and three RBIs apiece. Jonas Smith had a hit and RBI. Martin had a hit while Johnson had two hits an two RBIs, Nadig had a hit and RBI, and Vansoyoc had three hits and two RBIs.

Dorn allowed four hits, two runs, two walks and four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings as the starter of the second game. Will Weinberg came in relief and allowed one hit, two walks and three strikeouts. Conklin and Martin both had singles. Johnson had a single and double, plus four RBIs. Nadig had a single and two RBIs. Carter Pritchard had two singles and two RBIs.

Doing well in the Highland Conference, was "definitely one of our goals this season," Johnson said. "Bats came alive, really like the way we hit the ball. Guys are starting to get hot at the plate."
