Evart, Reed City split baseball doubleheader

REED CITY – Two Osceola County rivals met for nonleague baseball action on Thursday with Evart and Reed City splitting the twinbill.

Evart won the first game 15-1.

Pierce Johnson was the winning pitcher going five innings, striking out three, walking three and allowing four hits.

Danny Witbeck had a double, home run and single, plus five RBIs. Haidyn Simmer had a single and two RBIs. Johnson had a single, double and three RBIs. Reese Ransom had a home run and two RBIs. Mac Sims had a single and RBI. Michael Lodholtz added a single. Brayden Cass had two singles. Jake Ladd had an RBI.

Reed City scored one run on four hits and had three errors. Isaac Williams, Max Hammond, Bryce Wein and Canyon Reed all collected a hit apiece.

Evan Pullen started the game and took the loss, going two innings while allowing six hits, six runs and striking out two.

Isaac Williams threw 1.1 innings while allowing three hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Canyon Reed threw 1.2 innings giving up one hit, two runs and striking out three.

In game two, Reed City came out with a 9-4 win. The Coyotes scored nine runs on six hits while committing three errors. Williams, Hammond, Xavier Allen, and Payton Hansen all had one hit. Isaiah Moore had two hits and two RBIs. Allen also added two RBIs.

Payton Hansen took the pitching win. going five innings. He allowed five hits and four runs with one earned run. He also struck out six.

Simmer was the losing pitcher.

Johnson had two singles. Ransom and Nolan Theunick both had a single while Sims had a single and RBI.

Evart was set to be home on Tuesday against Harrison.

Reed City plays at Hart on June 5 in district play.
