Esiline, Bucks ready for key upcoming ballgames

LEROY —  Paige Esiline and the Pine River Bucks are in the final week of the regular season and getting ready for what they hope will be a success home stretch drive.

The Bucks ended this week set to play at home Tuesday against Evart.

Esiline has been a senior starter for the Bucks.

“We play Beal (City) again,” she said. “That may be a bit of competition.”

The Bucks’ only two conference losses during the season have been to McBain.

“We’ve been doing a lot better,” Esiline said. “We’ve been working well together.”

There’s always the chance the Bucks could see McBain for the third time during the postseason. The Ramblers have had their say in the first two games.

“Our defense struggled that game and we need to get more shots off,” Esiline said, adding that the season in general “has been going really good. We want to work together and hopefully win districts.”

Esiline has been satisfied with contributions for the team.

“My defense and I tend to move a lot on the floor and try to get others moving too,” Esiline said, referring to her role on the court. “(Her) offense and ball handling have improved.”

For the team to keep getting wins, “we want to always be improving of course...on offense we want to make sure we’re moving more and not just standing.”
