Errors hurt Evart girls in losses to Manton
EVART — Errors were critical against Evart in a pair 12-0 and 20-5 of Highland Conference softball losses to Manton Monday.
Sam Bressler went the distance in the first game and started the second for Evart. Natalie Burhans also pitched in the second.
“The first game, it was pretty much a pitching battle, then the errors got the best of Evart again,” Evart coach Jeff Bressler said.
Evart is home with Reed City on Wednesday and with Pine River on Friday.
Lake City 13-13, Evart 11-12
LAKE CITY — Evart had a 9-2 lead in the first game last Wednesday but couldn’t overcome a Lake City rally.
“We got off to a great start offensively and were ahead 9-2 at one point during game 1,” Bressler said. “We had a multitude of defensive errors, Lake City took advantage of that and steadily picked away at our lead, and beat us in the bottom of the seventh with a 2-out, 2-run double.
“Game 2 was back and forth, we played a little better defensively, Lake City just out hit us. Offensively we did pretty well. Every single player in the lineup had hits or multiple hits in both games, that’s an improvement for sure.”
