EVART — Kelci Elder scored 15 points and had seven rebounds, while McKenzie Kimball had 15 points, five rebounds and six assists and Cyana Dellar had 13 points and 11 boards in leading Evart (4-3, 1-2) to a Highland Conference win over Beal City on Friday.

Evart led 18-10 after the first quarter, 25-21 at halftime and 38-36 after the third quarter.

“It was the first time we had played in three weeks,” Evart coach Paul Higgins said. “We got sloppy at times. It was nice to get a win.”

Higgins indicated no major highlight stood out in particular from the win.

“The first 12 minutes of the game, I thought our defense was pretty good,” he said.

Evart played Tuesday at Lake City, and will be at Manton on Thursday in Highland Conference action. The next home game is Jan. 16 with Harrison.

Beal City 68, Evart 37 (boys)

EVART — Evart’s boys basketball team fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the Highland Conference with this loss to Beal City on Thursday.

The Wildcats are on the road for games this week at Lake City on Wednesday and at Manton on Friday. Their next home game is on Jan. 15 against non-league foe Farwell.
