REED CITY - It's Alison Duddles' senior season, and the Coyote senior player is hoping it will be her best one for the Reed City basketball team.

This marks her third year of varsity basketball. The team is starting its third week of practice.

Duddles played the whole season but wasn't totally healthy. She's still not quite 100 percent and has had shoulder issues.

"It still bothers me," she said.

Duddles' role again will be to work the inside game and get putbacks and short jumpers. There's a mixture of new and veteran players on the team.

"If we continue in practice the way we have, I think we're going to be quick and be able to play good defense," Duddles said. "It will take 100 percent effort the whole game."

Reed City opens the season at Clare on Dec. 3 and plays at Cadillac on Dec. 5. The first game is home with Fremont on Dec. 13.

Duddles is coming off the fall volleyball season.

"We were young," she said. "We won our first two district games and were in the finals, but lost."

One of the district wins was against Benzie Central, which had defeated Reed City in late regular-season action.

"We were loud, focused and determined to win," Duddles said.
