REED CITY — Alison Duddles made her varsity volleyball debut as a freshman and is striving to give the Coyotes even more contributions this year as a sophomore.

One of the top performances so far this season with the Coyotes was a Silver Division win at the Big Rapids Invitational.

“I thought we played a lot better than we have in the other games,” Duddles said. “We communicated more. We were more positive.”

Duddles, at 5-feet-11 inches, poses good height for the Coyotes as a middle hitter.

“I’ve been hitting and blocking very well this year,” she said. “I’ve improved quite a lot. Last year, I wasn’t hitting as well. It’s focusing, practicing and timing. Then it all comes together.”

Duddles is looking to improve in passing and hitting more consistently.

Reed City was at Tri County on Tuesday in Central State Activities Association Gold Division action. The next home match is Oct. 10 with Big Rapids.

The team is catching up despite not having a heavy summer schedule, Duddles said with the gymnasium floors being worked on.

“I think we can go quite a ways if we continue playing like we did (at the Big Rapids Invitational),” Duddles said.
