REED CITY — The season has ended for a young Reed City volleyball team that made strides from when the season started in August.

Prior to the districts last week, Reed City had a quad at home and went 2-1, losing only to Kingsley. Junior Megan Donley could attest to the progress her team had made following that match.

“I thought we did very well,” she said. “Kingsley’s a pretty good team.”

It was Donley’s first season on the varsity.

“It’s been pretty good,” she said. “We’re starting to have (some chemistry) with the team.”

Donley played rightside for the Coyotes.

“I’m kind of happy with my season,” she said. “I started to peak right about district time. I’ve been strong hitting lately. My blocks have (come on too). I’m proud with how I’m doing.”

Donley said she started hitting the ball harder. She was looking to be more consistent.

“My accuracy is improving too,” she said, adding that the team, going into districts “is playing pretty strong right now. Hopefully in districts, we’ll play to the best of our ability.”

Reed City beat Clare in semifinals of the districts and lost to Big Rapids in the finals.

A highlight of the season was beating Ionia, a Class A team, Donley said.
