EVART — Cyana Dellar is among the returning players this season for Evart, hoping to help the Wildcats be competitive in the Highland Conference.

Dellar is in her senior season and fourth year of softball. In Evart’s season debut with Reed City, Dellar was at first base, and expects to see extensive playing time there, along with left field.

Her height helps her take care of the throws to first base, Dellar said.

Dellar batted .500 last season and hopes to match that again this year.

“The key is my mental game,” Dellar said. “She’s been focusing on staying away from bad pitches and considers herself basically a contact hitter.

Dellar expects Evart to have a competitive game all season, but said defense will be critical.

“I think everybody needs to work on confidence with their hitting,” Dellar said. “If we can make less errors, we’ll be OK.”

Weather has obviously played havoc in everyone’s schedules. The Wildcats are at Glen Lake on Wednesday and at Big Rapids on Friday/

Dellar hopes to help Evart softball team be competitive in Highland Conference.
