EVART — Dillon Danley is a senior in his third year of varsity football at Evart, and he’s hoping it will be his best season.

“We were young,” Danley said of the 2014 season. “We were still learning, so we couldn’t really execute what we had. But now that we have more experienced people, I think we’ll do a whole lot better this year.”

The numbers were down last year and the Wildcats were looking for more players this season. Danley will be at outside linebacker and running back.

“Leading both sides of the ball,” are his roles in both cases, Danley noted. Speed and agility, plus the ability to fire up the team up on defense will be key roles. His main role on offense will be “executing and blocking, making sure my teammates are safe.”

Danley worked on some football during the summer and said he has improved.

“I feel like I’ve gotten stronger and faster,” he said.

The Wildcats didn’t qualify for the playoffs last season and want to bounce back this year.

“I think we’re going to have a better team,” Danley said. “We’re going out and should be able to compete with the experience out there. Last year, we didn’t have the experience to compete.”

Evart opens the season at White Cloud on Aug. 28.

“Sticking together,” Danley said, will be the key for the Wildcats in every game.
