Coyotes ready for back-to-back games
REED CITY — Reed City’s boys basketball team faces a back-to-back challenge this week when it plays at Morley Stanwood Wednesday and is home Thursday against Holton.
The Morley Stanwood game was changed from Monday of this week because of the weather.
“We’ll have to play hard two nights in a row,” said Coach Dean McGuire. “We haven’t done that yet this year. This will be a challenge for us. We’ll get a little rest. We haven’t been feeling well, We’ll see what happens.”
The Coyotes will try to make it 2-0 this season over the Mohawks.
“They have a nice squad. Coach (Josh) Bull does a nice job with those guys,” McGuire said. “Travis McCuaig and Tim Cairnduff are the two leaders on that team that we’ll have to slow down. They’re two very good ballplayers.
“McCuaig had 31 the first time we played them. Mostly it was from inside. We want to limit him. He’s such a good ballplayer. He’ll get his points. We prefer it not be 31.”
The Coyotes have been using up to 10 players a game and will be looking to do the same this week.
“We’ll be fully utilizing our bench for sure,” McGuire said. “Right now, we have a lot of players on the team. Rick (Droke) hasn’t been playing because of his surgery. I’m sure we’ll look to play all 10 of our players. I gave them today off to rest off a little bit and come in (Tuesday) ready to go.”
Chad Samuels is leading Reed City in scoring while Ryan Willis Kyle Wright and Jake Vincent are the leading rebounders.
