Coyote soccer team endures busy schedule
REED CITY — It’s been a busy schedule in recent days for the Reed City boys soccer team and it’s not going to lighten up in upcoming days, either.
Last Thursday, the Coyotes had a 2-2 draw with Shelby. The hosts scored two goals for a 2-0 lead. Prior to the first half, Eric Reed converted a penalty kick to make it 2-1.
In the second half, the Coyotes scored on a goal by Ricky Droke, assisted by Kolt Slater.
“That was evenly matched,” said Reed City coach Dave Mix. “In the second half, we controlled the midfield a little more. “We were very pleased with the performance as a team unit.”
Friday night, Reed City played at Ludington and lost 2-1.
Droke scored for Reed City assisted by Eric Reed. “We played a tremendous second half against Ludington,” Mix said, adding that Voelker, Trevor Mund and Jerry Daily had strong defensive efforts.
Reed City is 5-3-1.
The Coyotes, who played Cadillac on Tuesday, plays Thursday at home, varsity only, against Mason County Central.
0n Monday, Reed City picked up a win against Fremont Providence Christian.
Trailing 1-0, RC scored on a header by Ricky Droke, assisted by Eric Reed to make it 1-1. Matt Kienitz and Ben Schermerhorn scored to increase its lead to 3-1 going into the half.
In the second half, Reed scored eight seconds in, assisted by Droke.
Kienitz added another goal to make it 5-1.
Reed City netted goals from Evan Seay and Kolt Slater to close the scoring.
Reed City out-shot Fremont Providence Christian 18-9 with keeper Dylan Kichak collecting seven saves.
