Coyote girls fall in home action
REED CITY -- It was a busy night of volleyball on Thursday at Reed City with the Coyotes hosting their annual late-0ctober quad.
The Coyotes didn't quite get the scores they wanted with close losses to White Cloud (15-25, 25-19, 25-10), Kingsley (25-9, 25-14) and Benzie Central (27-25, 25-16).
For Reed City, Demi Lodholtz had 10 kills, three aces and 12 digs; Mady Brown had four kills, two aces and three digs; Katelynn Holmes nine kills three aces, two blocks and 21 digs; McKenzie Wein four kills, one ace and 27 digs; Maddie Morgan two aces and four digs; Alison Duddles 12 kills, 11 digs and 15 assists and two blocks, and Rylie Olds with 12 digs and 18 assists.
"It's been going pretty good so far," sophomore McKena Hill, in her first season," said. "We needed to communicate on the court and be loud about it."
It was the final home action of the season for Reed City.
"At times we played well, we just struggle offensively," Reed City coach Don Patterson said "We still have a lot of work to do offensively. There's not a lot of time left. But offensively is where we have to focus.
"Our passing at times has been pretty good. When our passing is good, we're a lot better. But even the rest of it, we have to set a little better."
Reed City is at Central Montcalm on Nov. 2 and at Big Rapids vs. Manistee at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 4 in district action.
Evart 3, Brethren 0
EVART -- The Wildcats ended their home season on Wednesday with a 25-19, 25-12, 25-16, non-league victory over Brethren.
Evart was led by Kara Henry with five kills and three blocks, Sklar Baugardner with five kills and six aces; KelcI Elder with four kills, Livia Hopkins with two kills two assists, 11 digs and two aces and Kaylee Ladd with eight digs.
