Cornelius set for senior season with Coyotes
REED CITY — It’s Connor Cornelius’ senior and final season in the throws for Reed City’s track and field team.
He’s hoping it will be his best one.
Cornelius and the Coyotes have been practicing since March 12 and are hoping to finally get in an outdoor meet this week.
He’s been in the track program since the seventh grade. Last year, he hit 31.5 feet in the discus.
Cornelius indicated he’s been better in the discus where he has a best throw of 108. He’s looking, this season, to break 120 for discus and 35 for the shot put.
To achieve those goals, “I probably need to gain more strength in my upper torso,” Cornelius said.
Reed City has around 20 on its boys roster.
“We have just a handful of throwers,” Cornelius said. “I was also going to do the 100-dash and the 400-meter relay.”
Reed City is at the Cadillac Invitational on Friday.
