Competitive cheer seasons end for Wildcats, Bucks

EVART — Evart was sixth and Pine River eighth among 14 schools Saturday in the district competitive cheer meet at Evart.

The top four teams advanced to regionals.

“We missed qualifying for regionals by two points,” said Evart coach Marty Pattee.

Hart, Ithaca, Merrill and Meridian are advancing to the regionals. Ithaca was first while Merrill, Hart and Meridian followed respectively.

“It was really tough competition. When you miss going on by two points, that’s really close,” Pattee said. “Round 2 was lower than what we’re used to scoring and I don’t understand why. Those things happen. I think the girls did the best job they could have.”

That marked the final event of the season for both Evart and Pine River.

Pine River had a strong round 3, said Bucks coach Tiffany Lindquist.

“We finished where we expected to in the tournament,” said Pine River coach Tiffany Lindquist.

For Evart, Amber Pattee made second team all-district and Taylor Moored was on the honorable mention list.
