Competitive cheer seasons end at districts

Area competitive cheer teams put their seasons to an end in district competition on Saturday.

Reed City, Evart and Pine River all failed to advance to regional action.

For districts, Reed City was at Houghton Lake and placed ninth.

Also last week, Reed City competed on Feb. 12 in the Evart Invitational and placed second in Division 3, losing to Farwell by 0.72.

“The girls did really well,” said Reed city coach Jen Worden. “We improved our Round 3 at Evart, and Saturday had our best round 2 and 3 scores for the season and that was awesome.”

Evart competed in the Division 4 meet at Shelby and ended up seventh.

“We had a rough third round,” said “Evart coach Marty Pattee. “Usually we have a good third round. It wasn’t our day.

A lack of practices because of snow days could  have taken a toll on her team, Pattee indicated.

“I’m proud of the team and all the things we accomplished,” Pattee said.

The Wildcats were second at their home Evart meet behind Marion.

Pine River also competed at Shelby.

“The girls had their best overall competition of the year,” and Bucks coach Tiffany Lindquist. “They had their best round 3 performance.”

Pine River finished 11th.
