REED CITY — Local cheer teams are getting ready for district action this weekend.

Teams that placed in the top four at their respective meets will advance to the regionals on Feb. 23.

All three schools in Osceola County competed at the Houghton Lake Invitational on Saturday.

Reed City’s middle school and varsity teams both placed third in Division 3.

“We really improved this week,” said Reed city coach Jen Worden. ”We were able to put in all of our choreography skills. The girls had to step it up. We were able to put in handsprings.”

“They improved their score, That’s what we’re looking for,” Worden said.

The districts will be at Houghton Lake.

Evart took fourth place in its division.

“It was not our best day,” said Evart coach Marty Pattee. “We’ve had days with no practice without having school. That really hurts. The kids will rally back. They’ll do really well.”

For Pine River, “at Houghton Lake the girls had their best Round 1 performance,” said Pine River coach Tiffany Lindquist. “They didn’t do well because we had a girl out sick. Wednesday, they were at Marion and had their best overall competition with a 538. We’re slowly improving.”

Evart’s and Pine River districts will be in Shelby.

“Hopefully, we’ll score the way we should and make it through,” Pattee said.
