Chaney hopes to be scorer for Coyotes

REED CITY — Alleyah Chaney had a memorable season opener for Reed City’s girls soccer team in late March.

Chaney had the Coyotes’ goal in a 1-1 tie with Big Rapids Crossroads Charter Academy to start the season.

This is Chaney’s first year on varsity.

“I was on JV last year and played some varsity games,” Chaney said.

She indicated she has scored in the past.

“Our team played really good,” Chaney said after the Crossroads game. “Everyone had a good attitude. Even before the game started Kendra White was pumping us up while we were practicing.

“We’re so happy, we all played so hard.”

Chaney normally plays left fullback and acknowledged the Coyotes are looking for her to score and set up other people. She hopes to use her speed and quickness to be a consistent offensive threat.”

The Coyotes came back from spring break to play at Tri County on Monday and lost 8-0. They are home Wednesday against Newaygo.

“We need to practice and have teamwork, “Chaney said. “Everyone needs to have good attitudes. We need to play our best.”
