EVART — A healthy Carter Pritchard at Evart would make for a happy Wildcat coaching staff this season

The Evart quarterback is coming off an injury to enter his senior football season for the Wildcats.

Pritchard is a returning honorable mention All-State quarterback.

“He worked his tail off to get back from a knee injury last season,” Evart coach Pat Craven said. “He is a tremendous field general, knows every position and their responsibilities. Carter can read defenses really well and makes solid and quick decisions. He is dangerous both through the air and on the ground.”

Evart opens its season on Thursday at Fremont. The Wildcats scrimmaged at Meridian on Thursday.

Pritchard was able to get in some quality time during the summer at quarterback, including at 7-on-7s He tore his ACL in his left knee the last game of the season. He missed all of basketball season but figures he’ll be 100 percent at the beginning of this year.

It will be Pritchard’s third season.

“I’ll be a better leader and hopefully I can run the ball a little better,” he said. “I’m not sure coming off a knee injury. That’s something that would help the offense. I definitely throw the ball a lot better. I can read the defense well and throw a good accurate ball.”

Evart has its home opener on Aug. 30 with Holton.

“I think we’ll be pretty good,” Pritchard said. “We have a lot of skill guys coming back. I think if we can fill spots on offense and defense with the juniors coming up, we’ll be pretty good.”
