CSAA recognizes two Reed City players

REED CITY — Two Reed City girls soccer players have received all-league honors from the Central State Activities Association this season.

Sophomore Katelynn Latin was named to the second team and junior Lauren Voelker was included on the honorable mention list.

Latin scored four goals as a defensive-mid.

Voelker scored three goals while playing primarily forward.

Voelker missed nearly half the season, coming off an anterior cruciate ligament injury she had sustained at the start of the girls basketball season. It wasn’t known as the season opened when and if she would be available. When she returned, she was a major plus for the Coyote attack.

“She started playing as soon as she got cleared,” Reed City coach Bryan Hall said.  “She has the most experience and some of the best foot skills. She was missed and it was nice to have her back.

“On the field, I didn’t see any hesitation or anything. Mentally, sometimes there was hesitation. Once you get her on the field, she was very solid.”

Both players, along with several others on the team, will be back in 2016. The Coyotes were sixth out of seven teams in the CSAA.
