Bluegill fishing looks promising

RODNEY – This is the time of year when fishing is a lot of fun for anglers like Jeff Greene of Rodney.

“I went to Hillview Lake on Thursday morning (May 13) and Sunday evening,” Greene said. “About one quarter of the bluegills I caught had small egg sacks. They were in 4 to 5 feet of water. They seem to be in pre bedding mode but making beds cannot be far away.

“ I fished on Jehnsen Lake on Saturday. I found big bluegills in four feet of water but no fish contained eggs. Even though the water temperature was 60 degrees in both lakes, Hillview seems to a little ahead in the reproductive cycle. Warming water is making the fish more aggressive.”
