EVART    She’s been a three-sport athlete throughout her career at Evart, and Brooke Belleville is starting her final season.

Track has been her best sport and Belleville is looking to have her best season.

Belleville has already signed a letter to run track and cross country at Wisconsin-Stout. Last season, Belleville went to the state meet in the 4x100 relay and the 100 dash.

This season, Belleville will be in the 4x100 relay and 100 dash. She’s thinking of trying the 400 and 800. The 100 remains her best event.

Her best time has been 13.239. She’s hopeful of beating that this season.

“Usually, I start out well and end up well,” Belleville said.

Returning to the state finals and placing will be a goal for Belleville.

The 4x1 will feature some new runners, but Belleville, who was the first leg last year, will be the last leg this season. She hesitated to determine if the first leg or last was the most challenging, but will find out throughout the season.

Evart was slated to open its outdoor season this week. Belleville was hopeful her team would hit midstride by late April.

“We have a lot of work to do,” Belleville said. “We’re about the same size we’ve been.”

Belleville and the Wildcats competed on March 24 at the Saginaw Valley Indoor Invitational.

Belleville was first in the 60-meter dash (8.33) and 10th in the 400 meters (1:06.03).
