EVART — Evart girls track coach Todd Scott has 22 girls this season and the Wildcats were scheduled to be in action this week.

“That’s a really good turnout for girls track in Evart,” Scott said. “I think we’re going to do pretty good compared to where we’ve been.”

The Wildcats are scheduled to be at Newaygo on April 13. They have their first home meet on April 17 against opponents to be announced later.

Senior sprinter Brooke Belleville is a 100-meter dash conference champion and state qualifier. Macey Wallace will help Evart in the long jump and sprints. Sarah Nelson will test her skills in the distances.

“We also have some good freshmen, up and coming,” Scott said. “We have a freshman pole vaulter, high jumper and long jumper.”

The Wildcats have been able to be outdoors at the track. They were at an indoor meet at Saginaw Valley State University in late March.

“We’ll do what we can do,” Scott said.

In the Highland Conference, girls track powers are expected to be McBain and Beal City.

The regionals are May 20 at a Breckenridge. The state finals are on June 3.
