File photoEVART – Evart (4-1, 5-1) bounced back from its 26-21 loss last week to Beal City on Friday to hand host McBain (2-3, 2-4) a 48-20 loss on Friday in Highland Conference action.
Evart had quarter leads of 7-6, 14-6 and 27-12. It was a 21-8 scoring advantage for Evart in the fourth quarter.
Cole Hopkins had 26 rushes for 193 yards and four touchdowns. Preston Wallace was 12-for-21 and 186 yards in passing with two touchdowns and one interception. Marcel White had four catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Jaxson Craven had 14 tackles. Tanner Graber had 13 tackles. Dakobe White had two interceptions including one he returned 35 yards for a touchdown. Hopkins had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Jake Ladd had seven tackles and caused a fumble.
“I thought our kids rebounded very well from last week,” Evart coach Pat Craven said. “We had a tremendous week of practice with the intent to really get back on the field and get back at it against McBain. I’m really proud of their effort. We got a big win over McBain. It’s never an easy place to play.”
Other games: It was Beal City over Pine River 49-6 (0-6) and Brethren over Baldwin (0-5) 50-19.
