REED CITY -- It's district action this week for wrestling teams with Reed City hosting its own Division 3 team district on Wednesday and Evart at Pine River for Division 4 competition.

"We wrestle Ludington first round of districts," Reed City coach Roger Steig said. "We match up very well with Ludington. Benzie Central is the only team in the District that fills all their weight classes and won't be giving anybody freebies. Based on that I would pick them as the team to beat.

"Our goal is to win the district but some of that will hinge on if we have a few guys coming back from injuries and if we get them back and how well they perform. Our core group that has been in there battling all year will be solid and will take the fight to them. It could be an exciting finals."

Evart hopes to have a strong team district effort at Pine River.

"We see Mason County Central first on Wednesday," Evart coach Ben Bryant said. "They have some very tough individuals and will be a hard match up for us. The favorite in the district is probably Hart, however Pine River is tough throughout their lineup. I think who ever makes it out of our district should take the region also."

Individual districts are at Shepherd on Saturday.

"Our individual district has 14 schools and you have to place top 4 to move on to regionals," Steig said.

"I expect Austin Fowler, Kellen Haney and Bryson Hughes to move on. Some that are certainly in the fight to get thru are Anakin Andrus, Alex Andrus, Mark White, Chad Landis and Ryan Neal. We have a couple others that could surprise opponents. You just have to bring your A game and sometimes a little luck helps."

"Our individual district is in Oscoda," Bryant said.

"Our district has some very tough weight classes. We have quite a few guys that have a chance of making it out. We will see where their hard work takes them. Crazy things happen in the post-season."
