EVART -- An eagle is still a rather unique feat for golfers in area leagues. But for Muriel Clark of Sears, it’s a feat she’ll never forget.

Clark and Diane Armstrong, also of Evart, play on the Tuesday Night Evart Moose League at Birch Valley Golf Course between Sears and Evart.

Recently, during league play, Clark scored her first ever eagle after sinking her second shot on the No. 2, par 4 hole from 30 feet away.

“I had a good T-shot,” said Clark, who then put away her driver and took out the pitching wedge with hopes of getting the ball close enough for a possible birdie putt.

But she thought her second shot was going over the green.

“I couldn’t tell it would go in the hole,” said Clark, who actually had an eagle before while playing by herself, but counts this as her first official one since there were witnesses. “It’s fun.”

It was fun enough to rank as her No. 1 highlight. But she gave Armstrong some credit.

“She talked it in for me,” Clark laughed. “She told that ball to get into the hole.”

She also plays in two ladies league an the Sunday Night Mixed League at Reed City’s Spring Valley Golf Course.
