REED CITY — Reed City’s baseball team had two players named to the All-Central State Activities Association Gold Division baseball team.

Junior Logan Straub was on the first team and sophomore Hunter Morrison was on the honorable mention list.

Straub batted .525 in conference play and .454 overall. He had four homers, 25 RBIs and 27 runs for the season. He had a 4-8 record with 3.08 ERA.

“Logan is a pure athlete,” Reed City coach Marty Shaffer said. “His size and ability allow him to excel in all sports. He was our workhorse this year and with him on the mound our confidence as a team was extremely high. He is well deserving of the all-conference selection and just missed the conference (Most Outstanding Player) award.

“He is our ‘guy’ and I would bet on him in any situation. I am looking forward to his senior season and seeing what he can do during what will be his fourth year on varsity.”

Morrison batted .488 in the CSAA and .495 overall. He had 13 RBIs and 24 runs overall. On the mound, he was 5-4 overall with a 4.06 ERA.

“Hunter Morrison was our shortstop and No. 2 pitcher this year as a sophomore,” Shaffer said. “He deserves more accolades then just honorable mention, but our (seventh-place) conference finish didn’t allow that. His arm strength along with his ability to make contact during quality at bats make him extremely valuable. As with Logan, I am excited to see what strides Hunter makes in the off season. His numbers should only get better and the sky is the limit for Hunter next year.”
