Sony

Built-for-purpose gaming headphones and monitors can make a big difference when it comes to the quality of your gaming — both in terms of your performance and the overall experience of the game itself. Now, Sony’s introducing new gear that isn’t limited just to the Playstation 5 but are actually made for PC gaming, with specs to embrace the capabilities of the PS5 too.

The two new pieces are under Sony’s new InZone brand of gaming gear and include monitors and headsets. The monitor is the centerpiece of the collection: Retailing for $899.99, it has a 27-inch screen (bigger than some TVs most Millennials grew up with) with 4K IPS specs. Other measurements are just as impressive: Think a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, meaning that gameplay lag should officially no longer be a thing. There’s also tons of ports: a DisplayPort, HDMI 2.1, and USB-C (though there’s weirdly no video cables included). One of the best features is that the screen can automatically toggle between cinema mode for streaming and a gameplay mode, so you get a great view no matter how you’re using the screen. There are also 96 zones of full-array local dimming and DisplayHDR 600, which give greater contrast and deeper blacks.

If the $899 monitor is a little too pricey, there’s a cheaper model in the works too: It should be out later this year and retail for about $370 less, according to The Verge

InZone, which has been in the works since 2019, also offers headsets for gamers, including the top-of-the-line H9 ($299.99), offering both 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth at the same time. While the design isn’t exactly revolutionary, it’s solid: There’s a flip-to-mute mic, super-comfy earpads that borrow from the WH-100XM5 headphones, and super-adjustable side arms. While they’re very, very large on the head looks-wise, they offer 32 hours of battery life per charge, enough for four straight days of gaming (not that we recommend that).

Shop the whole InZone line at Sony.com — while the monitors are still under “email me when available” status, you can pre-order the headsets now for immediate shipping when they’re available.
