07/14 Officers served a property owner a vehicle abatement. The property owner has the allotted time to correct the violation or further enforcement action will be taken. Officers responded to a trailer park in the city for a landlord/tenant dispute. The parties were talked to and advised that it was a civil matter and they were provided with a course of action. Officers were called to the motel to assist EMS with a medical run. The subject was transported to the hospital via EMS. 07/15 Officers assisted a stranded motorist on East Church Street. Officers issued multiple grass abatement notices to property owners in the city. The owners have the allotted time to correct the violation or further enforcement action will be taken. Officers were called to a business for an alarm. Officers arrived on scene and found the building to be secure and the all was determined to be false. The business owner was notified. 07/16 Officers responded to a business for a malicious destruction of property complaint. The complainant reported that three window screens had been cut. A report was completed and the matter is under further investigation. Officers were called to a business for a counterfeit money complaint. The complainant reported that someone had given them a fake $50 bill over the past weekend. A report was completed and the matter is under further investigation. Officers responded to a bank for a non-sufficient funds check complaint. The suspect has been identified and the matter is being followed up on. Officers were called for a found property complaint. The complainant had found a wallet on the White Pine Trail. The owner of the wallet was located and the wallet was returned. Officers investigated a reckless driving complaint on South Roth Street. The complainant reported walking on the side of the road and almost being struck by a vehicle driving in a reckless manner. The matter is under further investigation. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle with an improper license plate. The driver was arrested and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident. 07/17 Officers handled a phone scam complaint. The complainant reported getting a call from a person claiming they were from the Publisher’s Clearing House and that the caller had just won a cash prize but needed to wire money first to transfer the prize. The caller was advised that it was a scam. Officers responded to a residence for a larceny complaint. The complainant reported that a boat motor was stolen from her brother’s yard. A report was completed and the matter is under further investigation. Officers were called to East Bittner Avenue. for a barking dog complaint. Upon arrival no dog was heard and the complaint was unfounded. 07/18 Officers responded to a residence for an assault complaint. The mother of the victim reported that her 14-year-old son was assaulted by an adult. The suspect has been identified and the matter is under further investigation. 07/19 Officers handled a found property complaint. The complainant had found a driver’s license. The driver’s license was returned to the owner. Officers handled a harassment complaint that was sexual in nature. Officers talked with the complainant and determined that the issue was not harassment as the complainant was a willing participant in the communications. The complainant was provided with a course of action. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was determined that the driver had an outstanding warrant out of the Big Rapids Department of Pubic Safety. The subject was arrested and turned over to Big Rapids officers without incident.
