Reed City police reports

Officers continue to perform property inspections and serve the appropriate abatement paperwork for those in violation of the Reed City Ordinances for tall grass, trash and vehicles though out the week.

9/19

  • Officers were dispatched to local apartment complex regarding a family dispute. The caller stated she and others overheard a great deal of banging and screaming with foul language. Officers found an upset handicapped juvenile who was home from school. The father stated that the child’s medication had been changed and not as effective. Officers assisted with the transportation of the father and child to the Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital for an evaluation.
  • Officers were dispatched to local parking lot regarding a hit-and-run situation. The matter was unfounded.
  • Officers received a complaint regarding an animal control situation. The caller expressed concerns of a dog that would be put out on a chain that nearly reached the sidewalk during the time children would be walking to school each morning. Officers spoke with the owner who was unaware there was a problem and offered to move the dog’s chain to the back yard. Case closed.
  • Officers were dispatched to local apartment complex regarding suicidal subject. Officers found the individual had not done any harm to herself, but requested transportation to Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital emergency room for a voluntary psychiatric evaluation. Officer stayed until the individual was released to the hospital staff.
  • Officers received a report of juveniles abusing the use of over the counter cough, cold and congestion medication also know as triple C. Officers made contact and informed the authorities and those in charge of the juveniles for the evening. Officers were assured that the situation would be discussed with the juveniles and the boy in question would be watched and taken to the get medical treatment if necessary.

9/20

  • Officers were dispatched once again to an apartment complex regarding a suicidal subject. Officers transported the individual back to the Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital emergency room for another voluntary psychiatric evaluation. Officers were dispatched back to the apartment complex later that day as the situation elevated into a domestic non-aggravated assault situation. The 27-year-old female was arrested, transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail.
  • Officers picked up a 45-year-old male at the Jackson County Jail, who held a criminal bench warrant out of Osceola County’s 77th District Court in Reed City. He was placed under arrest and transport to the Osceola County Jail where he was lodged without incident.

9/21

  • Officers were dispatched to local apartment complex parking lot to take a report on a personal property damage accident. No injuries were reported.
  • Officers took a report regarding lost or stolen property. The item in question was later located next door. There had been a misunderstanding in the ownership of the missing property. Case closed.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a health and safety concern. The caller expressed concern for the neighbor children she observed playing in and or near the road. Officers spoke with the babysitter who stated she was watching them from the porch the whole time and agreed to keep them back from the road.
  • Officers located and arrested a 33-year-old male on two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.

9/22

  • Officers received information regarding a truancy situation. The matter is under investigation.
  • Officers observed a semi-tractor parked on the side of the street in a residential area. Officers issued a verbal warning and informed the 45-year-old male drive of the city ordinance prohibiting commercial vehicles in residential areas. He stated he was unaware and moved the vehicle at once.

  • Officers were informed of a 53-year-old male who was being held at the jail of another jurisdiction. An officer confirmed there was a warrant for the man. He was then placed under arrest and transported him to the Osceola County Jail where he was lodged without incident.

9/24

  • Officers were dispatched to Spectrum Health’s Reed City Hospital’s emergency room regarding a disorderly group of family members refusing to leave. After realizing the police were on their way the group calmed down and officers were no longer needed.
  • Officers were dispatched to a local residence to take a report of a stolen bicycle. The bicycle had been parked outside a local business when it came up missing. The matter is under investigation.

  • Officers responded to a fire alarm activation at a local factory. Upon Officers arrive it was found to have been accidentally triggered. Case closed.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a 911 hang-up call. Officers spoke with the caller who stated she had a new phone and accidentally dialed the emergency number. Case closed.
