Officers continue to perform property inspections and serve the appropriate abatement paperwork for those in violation of the Reed City Ordinances for tall grass, trash and vehicles though out the week. Please be aware the placement of yard waste and leaves into the curbs and gutters is also a violation of the city ordinance. It causes problems with the storm drains and will not be allowed. The Reed City Police Department is enforcing the ordinance for those who are non-compliant. Additionally all household trash, including those that are set out on Large Pickup Day, must be in the approved blue trash bags available at the City Hall, or it will not be picked up. All trash and cans are required to be removed from the curbside by 7 p.m. on Thursdays.

  • Officers arrested a 34-year-old female for violating her probation regarding a truancy charge. She was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers arrested a 36-year-old male for driving without a valid license. He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail and his vehicle towed.

  • Officers issued an appearance citation to a 32-year-old male for driving with an expired license plate along with a restricted and expired driver’s license.
  • Officers arrested a 42-year-old male for obstructing justice when he violated his felony probation orders. He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • While performing a traffic stop for an expired license plate, the officer found the plate was invalid and the 29-year-old driver was driving on his licensed was suspended (second offense). The driver was issued a verbal warning on the vehicles window tint. He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

  • Officers were dispatched to respond to a two-vehicle property damage accident. No injuries were reported.
  • Officers were requested to local gas station to take a complaint of someone passing a counterfeit bill. The matter is under investigation.
  • Officers arrested a 33-year-old man for driving while under the influence of liquor felony (third offense) and driving while license suspended (second offense). He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were requested to respond to a complaint at a local residence regarding the removal of a fence. The caller believes that the removed portion of the fence between the two properties belonged to him. He added that he was not able to reach his neighbor to discuss the situation. Officers explained that, until property lines were determined and a deliberate act was committed, it was a civil matter and to continue to try and contact his neighbor to discuss the situation.

  • Officers responded to a local apartment complex regarding a verbal dispute between tenants. The officer explained that the situation was a civil matter and that they needed to behave as adults and stop speaking badly of one another so everyone can get along.
  • Officer issued an appearance citation to a 29-year-old male for driving without insurance. He was also cited for having an expired plate. The vehicle was towed.
  • Officers were dispatched to a local residence regarding a dispute. The homeowner wished to force a tenant of the house to leave. Officers explained that due to allowing the tenant to make the home her residence the owner would have to follow the eviction process.
  • Officers were dispatched to the Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital for an individual seeking treatment for mental health that had left against medical advice. The individual returned voluntarily and agreed to get treatment.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a suspicious situation. It was reported the male driver had driven into the neighbor’s backyard and wrapped a chain around a tree in an attempt to straighten his bumper without permission of the owner. This resulted in the chain breaking and shattering the back window of his vehicle before he backed into the tree and ran over some shrubbery. It was reported that the man was passed out in his vehicle with it in gear. Officers observed a running vehicle sitting in the street with the vehicle still in reverse. The driver was passed out with his legs hanging out the driver’s side door. Officers woke the 50-year-old male driver and found him to be under the influence of alcohol and prescription medication. He was placed under arrest for the operation under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.

  • Officers were called to assist with an injured cat in the road. Upon their arrival the cat had expired and was removed.
  • While performing a traffic stop for no trailer lights, officers found the 31-year-old passenger had three outstanding warrants. He was placed under arrest, transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • While performing property checks, officers found an unlocked door to one of the factories. The building was searched and nothing appeared out of the  normal. Door was secured.
