Reed City Police Reports

Officers continue to perform property inspections and serve the appropriate abatement paperwork for those  in violation of the Reed City Ordinances for tall grass, trash and vehicles throughout the week.

8/1

  • Officers received numerous reports of unlocked vehicles that had been ransacked and items taken. If you observed any suspicious activity, you are encouraged to contact the Reed City Police Department.
  • Officers were dispatched to a local business regarding missing property. The matter was determined to be a civil matter regarding a pending divorce.
  • Officers received a call regarding a suspicious situation in which there was a young man sitting on the curb on the side of the street. Officers spoke with the 22-year-old male, who stated he gets a better cell phone signal in that spot.
  • Officers issued a verbal warning to a 54-year-old female for parking in the handicap spot with no handicap plate or sticker in window.
  • Officers observed a dog running at large and issued a verbal warning to the owner to keep the dog on a leash when out for a walk.
  • Officers were requested to assist with scene security for the Evart Police Department regarding an unwanted person at a residence.
  • Officers were requested to assist the Osceola County Sheriffs Department with scene security regarding an and individual with multiple warrants.

  • Officers located a 28-year-old female who had two outstanding warrants. She was placed under arrest, transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers responded to a call of a larceny of a gaming system. The matter is under investigation.

  • Officers were called to local business to take a report of larceny of scrap metal. The matter is under investigation.

  • Officers were requested to take a credit card fraud report. The victim stated that someone had opened a credit card account using her identity.

  • Officers were requested by a caretaker to perform a well-being check on a 93-year-old female that was not answering her door. Officers found no one at home. It was determined she had left with another person. Case closed.
  • Officers were dispatched to check the emergency phone outside the Michigan State Police post as it had been used but no one was on the line. Officers found no one at the phone and no indication of an emergency.
  • Officers received a complaint of children playing in an abandoned building. Officer searched the building, finding no one in there. Officers noted the broken windows and unsecured door. Case closed.
  • Officers were dispatched to local business regarding a suspicious situation. The caller stated one of the doors was open and a light was on which was unusual for that time of the night. Officers found that area of the building was under construction. Officers searched the building and found no foul play. Case closed.

  • Officers were dispatched to assist the Osceola County Sheriffs Department with a frustrated and upset male. The man was transported to Spectrum Health Reed City Campus of a mental health evaluation.
  • Officers were dispatched to take a property damage report on a car/deer accident.
  • Officers performed a traffic stop for loud music and found the 43-year-old male to be operating while under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested, transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident and his vehicle was towed.
  • Officers were dispatched to a barking dog complaint after midnight. Officers made contact with the owner, who was out of town. The owner was given a warning and stated he would make arrangements to have someone come over and settle the dogs down. Case closed.
