Reed City Police Report for Sept. 9 through Sept. 15

09/09/13

Officers located a subject that had been issued a No Trespassing Notice for an apartment complex in the city. The subject was served the No Trespassing Notice without incident.

Officers investigated a disorderly complaint at the school where one student threw ketchup on another student. A report was completed and the matter is being handled by School Officials.

Officers responded to a residence for a well being check on a juvenile child. Officers checked the residence and found everything to be OK. The matter is under further investigation for possible child abuse.

Officers talked with students on a bus after receiving a complaint of bullying. All passengers on the bus were warned that conduct would not be tolerated or further enforcement action would be taken.

Officers responded to a residence for an alarm. Upon arrival it was determined to be a false fire alarm. The residence was checked and a message was left for the homeowner.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license and also had a warrant for his arrest out of Saginaw. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

09/10/13

Officers responded to a residence for a fraud complaint. The complainant reported getting a phone call from a subject who claimed to work for a bank who was asking her personal questions regarding her accounts. The subject was directed to contact her bank immediately as the call was a scam. A report was completed.

Officers located a subject that was being discharged from the Hospital that had multiple warrants for her arrest out of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department. The subject was arrested and turned over to Lake County Officials.

09/11/13

Officers issued two residents trash abatement notices. The owners have the allotted time to correct the violations or further enforcement action will be taken.

Officers responded to a residence for a neighbor dispute where obscene language was being used. Both parties were talked to and warned about their conduct and advised to stay away from each other.

Officers were called to a residence for a possible breaking and entering complaint. The complainant reported seeing someone crawling through their neighbor’s window. Officers checked the residence and found it to be the child of the homeowner that had forgotten his key and was locked out of the house.

Officers responded to the School for a larceny complaint. The complainant reported his cell phone being stolen from his gym bag. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers were called to an apartment complex for a noise complaint. Upon arrival very faint noise was heard. The subjects refused to answer the door and the matter is being followed up on with the apartment manager.

09/12/13

Officers responded to a residence for a civil matter over a cell phone and harassment. Officers talked to both parties and provided them with a course of action and advised them to avoid contact with each other.

Officers were called to a residence for a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival it was determined that the boyfriend and girlfriend had assaulted each other. The female claimed she had been punched in the head around 20 times by her boyfriend. The boyfriend had a cut to his hand and claimed his girlfriend came at him with a knife and cut him. The female was arrested for aggravated assault and the male was arrested for simple assault. Both subjects were lodged at the Osceola County Jail after receiving medical treatment. There were two children in the home at the time of the incident that were turned over to Child Protective Services who placed them with other family members for the time being.

09/13/13

Officers handled a traffic complaint. A bus driver reported that a vehicle failed to stop for his flashing red lights while unloading children. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to a business for a larceny complaint. The complainant reported her purse was stolen from her vehicle. It was later discovered that the complainant had forgotten she had placed the purse in the trunk of the vehicle. The complaint was unfounded.

Officers were called to the School for a missing juvenile during a football game. Officers arrived on scene and located the juvenile who was not missing. The juvenile was turned over to the parents. The complaint was unfounded.

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a traffic stop on US 131. Once the scene was secure the officer resumed normal patrol duties within the city.

09/14/13

Officers attended funeral services in Manistee for Trooper Paul Butterfield of the Michigan State Police who was killed in the line of duty.

Officers were called to an apartment complex for a dog that was in an apartment that was barking non-stop and the resident was not home. Officers arrived on scene to find the dog barking. The resident was later located and cited.

Officers did a peace officer stand by for a child custody exchange. There were no issues.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were requested to respond to an address on 200th Avenue where a 19-year-old came home from a party and was lying face down in the driveway. Officers responded to the scene with EMS until relieved by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department.

09/15/13

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department with a call of cows running in the roadway of Northland Drive near 2 Mile Rd almost causing multiple accidents.
