Reed City Police Report for Jan. 7 to 13
Officers investigated an abandoned vehicle. The necessary paperwork was completed to notify the owner.
Officers assisted Child Protective Services in doing a home inspection. There were no problems encountered.
Officers responded to a residence for a larceny complaint. The complainant stated she left for a few minutes to check on her laundry and when she returned home her medication had been stolen from inside the home. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
Officers were called to an apartment complex for a verbal domestic. Upon arrival no assault had occurred. The parties were warned and provided with a course of action.
Officers investigated a possible bond conditional release violation at an apartment complex in the city. It was determined that the subject was not in violation of his bond conditions and the complaint was unfounded.
Officers responded to a residence for a landlord/tenant dispute. Both parties were advised that it was a civil matter and were provided with a course of action.
Officers were called to the hospital to assist with a mental subject that was trying to walk away from the hospital. Officers arrived on scene and everything was calm and no action was needed.
Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. Upon arrival it was determined that an employee had accidentally set off the alarm and everything was OK.
Officers investigated a complaint of a deer blind in the back yard of a residence. The property owner was located and advised of the ordinances within the city.
Officers were called to the school for a student that brought a toy air soft pellet gun to school. The air soft gun was taken and the matter is being handled by school officials.
Officers responded to a residence for a malicious destruction of property complaint. The complainant reported that someone had smashed her passenger side mirror on her vehicle. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
Officers were dispatched to an alarm at a business in the city. Upon arrival, staff of the business was on scene and it was determined to be a false alarm.
Officers issued a trash abatement to a property owner that had trash to the road in white bags. The owner has the allotted time to correct the violation before further enforcement action is taken.
Officers were called to a business. Cleaning staff was inside cleaning and saw a window peeper. Officers canvassed the area attempting to locate the suspect but were unable to find him. A report was completed.
Officers responded to a bank for a teller panic alarm. Upon arrival it was determined to be a false alarm and everything was OK.
Officers were called to a residence for a harassment complaint. The complainant stated that she and her daughter were being harassed by a male subject. The male was located and talked to and warned to have no more contact with the complainants or further enforcement action will be taken.
Officers investigated an abandoned vehicle parked on the side of the road. The vehicle was tagged and will be impounded in 48 hours if it is not removed by the owner.
Officers were called to a residence for a threats complaint. Through investigation it was determined that both parties were equally at fault. Both parties were advised to not to have any further contact with each other.
Officers assisted a parole agent at the motel by standing by while he obtained a urine sample from a parolee. There were no issues.
Officers on patrol located two subjects smoking marijuana in the city parking lot North of Upton Ave.
The female was given an appearance citation for use of marijuana at the scene and released. The male subject was arrested for possession of marijuana and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.
Officers responded to an alarm at a vacant house that was being foreclosed. The alarm was determined to be a carbon monoxide detector. There was no gas or electricity going to the house. No smoke was observed. The alarm was determined to be malfunctioning.
Officers assisted a parole agent in attempting to locate a subject that was on parole.
Officers were called to a residence for an assault complaint. The complainant stated her son was at the store when he was assaulted by the father of his former friend.
All parties were interviewed. A report has been completed and submitted to the City Attorney’s Office for review.
Officers were dispatched to a residence for a peeping tom complaint. The complainant stated she was in her bathroom and saw a man looking through her window.
Officers responded to the scene with a K9 unit from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office and began tracking the suspect. The K9 ended up losing the track some distance from the complainant’s residence. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
Officers on patrol doing property checks found that a door knob at The Depot had been vandalized. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
Officers on patrol located water running out from under the door at the old Community Education building. The property manager was contact who responded and shut the water off.
