Police investigating breaking and entering at Marion motel
MARION — Vandals caused more than $1,500 worth of damage by breaking windows, air conditioners and spraying fire extinguishers in the Riverview Motel in Marion.
The Michigan State Police are investigating the breaking and entering/vandalism complaint, which occurred between Sept. 7 and Sept. 14.
The suspect or suspects broke out numerous windows and air conditioning units to gain access to the rooms. A fire extinguisher was used in one of motel's rooms, and another fire extinguisher was used on the exterior walls of the building. Police dusted the fire extinguishers and windows for latent prints.
While nothing appears to have been stolen, the damage caused was significant. The motel is no longer open for business, but is still locally owned and monitored on a weekly basis. The investigation is still ongoing.
