5/31

  • Larceny from Auto – Officers responded to two Larceny from Auto complaints.  The cases remain open at this time.
  • Suspicious Situation – While on patrol, Officers located a vehicle parked in a prohibited area.  A citation was issued to the owner of the vehicle.

6/1

  • Suspicious Vehicle – Officers responded to a complaint of an unresponsive person in a vehicle at a local business. The occupant of the vehicle was found to be asleep and required no medical attention.
  • Civil Complaint – Officers responded to a civil complaint between tenants at a local apartment complex.  The case remains open at this time.
  • Probation Violation – Officers responded to a complaint of a possible probation violation that occurred at a local business.  The case has been turned over to Osceola County Probation.

  • Ordinance Violation – Officers received a complaint of an Ordinance Violation.  Upon investigation a home owner was found to be in violation of an ordinance and a citation will be issued.
  • Suspected Breaking and Entering– Officers responded to a suspicious situation of a possible break in at a local apartment complex.  The apartment was found to be secure and no items were missing.
  • Civil Complaint – Officers responded to a Civil Complaint. During the investigation a possible case of Child Neglect was discovered.  The case has been turned over to DHS for further investigation.
  • Domestic –Officers were dispatched to a Domestic Dispute in progress.  Upon arrival, the parties were separated and interviewed.  One subject was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department where they were lodged on charges.

  • Suspicious Situation/Sexual Assault – Officers responded to a Sexual Assault complaint. The case remains open at this time.

  • Suspicious Situation – Officers responded to suspicious situation involving a possible prescription drug theft.  The case remains open at this time.
  • Check Well Being – Officers were requested to do a Well Being Check on a person who was found to be secure and not in need of any services.
  • Warrant Arrest – Officers made a Warrant Arrest.  The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail where they were lodged on their warrant.

  • Harassment – Officers responded to a Harassment complaint.  The case remains open at this time.
  • Suspicious Situation – Officers responded to a Suspicious Situation involving a possible prescription drug theft.  The incident was found to be a miscommunication and the prescription drugs were later located.

  • Officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at a local business.  The building was checked and found to be secure.  Case closed.
  • Officers performed property inspections and served the appropriate abatement paperwork accordingly though out the day.
  • While performing a traffic stop for an expired plate, Officers found the 43 year old male driver did not have a valid driver’s license.  This was his 4th offense for Driving While License is Suspended.  He was issued citations for an Expired Plate, and Improper Display of a Registration as the plate was registered to a different vehicle along with No Proof of Insurance.  The vehicle was towed and the Driver arrested and lodged at Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers responded to the Reed City Spectrum Health Emergency Room regarding a dog bite.
  • The owner of the dog was located and issued a citation for violating city ordinances of a Dog at Large and Unlicensed and Unvaccinated dog. The dog was impounded for the required quarantine period to ensure it is not diseased.

  • Officers were requested to investigate an incident involving two School Buses that were required to take evasive driving measures after an oncoming vehicle crossed the centerline.  The matter is under investigation. No accident or injuries occurred.
  • Officers continued to performed property inspections and serve the appropriate abatement paperwork accordingly though out the day.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a trespassing matter.  Finding it to be a civil matter, Officers issued advice to both parties involved on how to handle the situation.  Case closed.
  • Officers were notified of a bag full of personal items that was found at a local business.  The owner of the bag was located and he retrieved his bag from the Reed City Police Department.  Case closed.
  • Officers were called regarding a suspicious situation of possible gunshots fired.  Officers spoke with the neighbors and found the noise to have been a car that backfired.  Case closed.
  • Officers received a call from a 20 year old female requesting assistance in locating her cell phone.  She stated she lost her phone in a Big Rapids store and that her tracking app has it located in Reed City at another business.   Officers went with her to retrieve it and found it was not there.  Eventually that day contact was made by the person who had the phone.  The caller stated she picked it up by mistake and arrangements were made for the phone to be returned.  Case closed.

  • Officers responded to an alarm activation at a local business.  The building was found to be secure and nothing found to be out of the normal.  Officers notified the key holder, case closed.
  • Officers were contacted by Social Worker, requesting assistance in traveling out of town to retrieve a child who was staying in a homeless shelter with the non-custodial mother.  The child was retrieved and turned over safely to her father.
  • Officer were called about a bag of personal items that had been located. Attempts to locate the owner were unsuccessful.

  • Officers were dispatched to the Michigan Works building regarding a suspicious situation of a 911 hang up call.  Officers found it was someone made a mistake using the fax machine.  Case closed.
  • Officers were called to a vacant house, regarding a suspicious situation.  A utility employee observed a back door which was boarded up, appeared to have been kicked in.  Officers check the house and found no one inside.  Officers contacted the owner to properly secure the door.   
  • The Reed City Police Department received complaints regarding a local residence with having too many dogs and that the dogs are constantly barking.  The matter is under investigation.
  • Officers were dispatched to assist an individual who had missed some doses of mental health medication. The individual was transported voluntarily to the hospital for medical evaluation.
  • Officers were called to local residence regarding an on going health and safety situation involving a neighbor’s dog who continuously enters the neighbor’s property.  Officers issued a Dog at Large citation to the dog owner.
  • Officers were dispatched to a city park regarding a possible Personal Protection Order violation. The matter has been turned over to the court for review.

  • While performing a traffic stop on a speeding violation, Officers arrested a 20 year old male for operating without insurance and an improper use of a registration plate along with a citation for speeding.  His vehicle was towed and he was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a suspicious situation.  The caller stated they observed some boys on the Pere Marquette Trail throw a BB gun into the weeds.  The matter is under investigation.
  • Officers were request to perform a well-being check by the Veterans Association.  They stated that they were unable to reach the individual by phone and were concerned as there is a history of seizures, depression and post traumatic stress disorder.  Officers made contact with the individual who was fine and had been sleeping.
  • Officers performed a jail pickup a 46 year old male with a warrant out of Osceola County, who was being held at another jurisdiction.  He was transported and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.   
  • While on patrol Officers observed a broken glass door of a local business.  Officers made contact with the business owner.  The matter is under investigation.

  • Officers were dispatched to local residence regarding a civil dispute between family members.  Both parties were able to calm down and come to an understanding.  Case closed. 
  • While out on patrol Officers were flagged down by two individuals regarding a suspicious situation.  The showed the Officers a text massage they received on their cell phone from an unknown number.  The message stated the person needed help and it was an emergency.  It then gave a longitude and latitude along with a time and altitude. There were numerous errors in the text and the numbers looked to be links to other sites. It was determined that similar texts had already been investigated by the Osceola County Sheriff Department. 
  • Officers continued to perform property inspections and issue verbal warning along with the appropriate abatement paperwork and citations for those who have not complied after the appropriate amount of time.

  • Officers received a juvenile complaint regarding a group of teenage children shooting an arrow into the air from a bow.  The mother confiscated the bow and Officers issued a verbal warning for shooting the bow inside city limits. Case closed no injuries and no damage. 
  • Officers were called to local residence regarding some missing electronic cigarettes. They were found to have been stolen by their child’s friend. They were returned to the owner who did not wish larceny charges.
  • Officers were dispatch to investigate a suspicious situation.  The caller stated they observed a man and women in a pickup with children who appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.  The Officers located the vehicle in question and spoke with the driver and passengers finding the matter were unfounded.
  • Officers observed a suspicious situation regarding a man parking his vehicle at the high school at night.  Officers determined the man was just enjoying the night and planned to move on shortly.  Case closed.
