May 9

  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a welfare check. The minor was returned to their parents. The case is closed.
  • An officer was dispatched to a business reference a larceny complaint. The case is open pending further investigation.
  • An officer was dispatched to assist the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department on a search.

May 10

  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a trespassing complaint. The suspect left the area before the officer arrived.

May 11

  • An officer was dispatched to a business reference a possible disturbance. The subjects left upon the officer’s arrival.
  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a larceny complaint. The case is open pending further investigation.
  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a barking dog complaint. The officer made contact with the owner and advised them of the City’s ordinance.

May 12

  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a noise complaint. The officer made contact with the suspect and advised them of the City’s ordinance.
  • While on patrol an officer identified an individual as having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to Osceola County Sheriff’s Department and lodged on charges.

May 7

  • Officers on patrol were called to a business for a found bike complaint. The bike was taken into safe keeping until claimed by the owner.
  • Officers were called to an apartment complex for a complaint of a moped driving at a high rate of speed through the complex. Officers arrived on scene and the moped was gone on arrival.
  • Officers responded to an apartment complex for an intoxicated male subject that was knocking on doors. Officers arrived on scene and were not able to locate the subject.
  • Officers were dispatched to the area of W Upton Ave for a barking dog complaint. The dogs were located at a residence. The owner was given a warning.
  • Officers were called to an apartment complex for an assault complaint. An intoxicated friend of hers had come to her apartment. The subject ended up accusing her of relations with another person and threw her down on the bed. The subject had left the scene prior to the complainant calling the police. A report was completed and submitted to the City Attorney’s Office seeking an arrest warrant.

May 8

  • Officers were called to US 10 for a complaint of horses running at large. Officers made contact with nearby horse owners and advised them of the complaint. The horse was not able to be located.

May 9

  • Officers were called to the High School for a harassment complaint. A student was receiving harassing text messages. The matter is under investigation.
  • Officers investigated an assault complaint. The complainant was assaulted by his older brother and had a laceration on his face. A report was completed and turned over to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department due to the assault occurring in the Village of Hersey.
  • Officers were called to the intersection of W Church St at S Higbee St for a two vehicle property damage accident. There were no injuries and only minor damage. A report was completed.
  • Officers were dispatched to a business in the city for a larceny complaint. The business owner had allowed the suspect to take some parts and the suspect was suppose to return to the business with other parts as a trade. The suspect failed to comply with the agreement. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

May 10

  • Officers were called to the school to assist with a disorderly student that was disruptive and breaking items. Officers got the student under control who was turned back over to school staff.
  • Officers were called to a residence for a domestic violence call. The boyfriend of the victim had assaulted her by choking her and throwing her around.
  • Officers arrived on scene and interviewed all parties involved. The male suspect was arrested for domestic violence and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were dispatched to a business for a larceny from a motor vehicle complaint. The complainant advised that she was painting a building when someone stole her purse out of her vehicle. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
  • Officers were dispatched to the High School for a larceny from a motor vehicle complaint. The complainant was in the School when someone smashed out his window and stole his wallet from the vehicle. A report was completed and officers are in the process of reviewing camera footage for the incident.

May 11

  • Officers investigated an abandoned vehicle parked at a business.
  • Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. Upon arrival it was determined that the alarm was accidentally activated by an employee.
  • Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a report of a domestic at US 10 at Business 10. Once the scene was secure the Officer returned to patrol duties within the city.
  • Officers were called to a residence for a breaking and entering complaint. The complainant advised that while he was in jail someone had broken into his house and stole multiple items. A report was completed and possible suspects have been identified.
  • Officers were dispatched to the Motel for a possible child abuse complaint. Officers arrived on scene and checked the children and found the complaint to be unfounded.

May 12

  • Officers were called to a business for a possible stolen bike complaint. The complainant observed someone riding the bike and parking it at a business, a short time later a subject in a vehicle arrived and took the bike. A license plate was obtained and the matter is under investigation.
  • Officers responded to Montcalm County Jail to pick a subject up on an outstanding warrant for contempt of court. The subject was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. Upon arrival it was determined that the building was secure and it was a false alarm.
  • Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a traffic stop in the city. Marijuana was located in the vehicle and one of the subjects had a felony extradition warrant out of another state. Officers transported one of the subjects to the Osceola County Jail.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating without a license and also had a warrant for probation violation. Suspect marijuana was also located in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

May 13

  • Officers were called to a residence for a harassing phone calls complaint. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.
  • Officers were dispatched to a residence for a suicidal subject who was attempting to over dose on medication. Officers arrived on scene and assisted EMS in restraining the subject for her safety. It was later discovered that the subject had pulled a knife on her mother. After the subject was cleared by the hospital she was arrested for domestic violence and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were called to a residence for a domestic violence call. The suspect was arguing with his girlfriend when he was told to quiet down by another person in the residence. The suspect then kicked in his door and began choking him. The suspect was arrested for domestic violence and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Sheriff’s Report 

May 6 to 12 

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

May 6

  • deputies investigated 4 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Burdell, Leroy, Richmond and Sylvan Townships.
  • deputies investigated a residential alarm, which was reported within Evart Township. Upon arrival the deputies found the home to be secure, and cleared the scene without incident.

May 7

  • deputies were dispatched to a residence within the City of Evart on the report of a domestic assault, which was in progress. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and determined that an assault did occur between 2 subjects involved in a domestic relationship. At that time the aggressor was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • deputies were dispatched to a residence within the Village of Marion on the report of a possible attempted suicide complaint. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and determined that said person was a danger to themselves and others. At that time the subject was taken into protective custody and was transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

May 8

  • deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes, and 1 vehicle crash with injuries. Incidents occurred within Highland, Richmond and Burdell Townships.
  • a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Sherman Township for careless driving. Through investigation the deputy determined that said operator was operating their vehicle while under the influence of drugs. The operator was then taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

May 9

  • deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes. Incidents occurred within Richmond Township, City of Reed City and the Village of Marion.
  • a deputy was dispatched to a business within Burdell Township, on the report of a golf cart, which was stolen and then recovered a short distance from the business. Upon arrival the deputy completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

May 10

  • deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Hartwick, Osceola and Richmond Townships.
  • deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Richmond Township for the operator failing to wear their safety belt. Through investigation the deputies discovered that said operator was operating said vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of suspected marijuana. The operator was then arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

May 11

  • deputies were dispatched to a marina within Evart Township on the report of damage to property and larceny complaints. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had cut the gas lines and took gas from 8 separate boats. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.
  • deputies investigated a breaking and entering complaint, which occurred within Hersey Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had entered a vacant home. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

May 12

  • a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding, within Burdell Township. Through investigation the deputy determined that said operator was operating their vehicle while intoxicated. The operator was then arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • a sergeant investigated a domestic assault, which occurred within Richmond Township. Upon arrival the sergeant secured the scene and determined that an assault did occur between two subjects involved within a domestic relationship. At that time the aggressor was arrested and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.
