May 23 to 26

May 23: An officer was dispatched to two traffic complaints. The officer spoke to the complainants, and citations were issued to the suspects.

An officer was dispatched to a residence for a civil dispute. The officer stood by until an agreement was reached by both parties, requiring no further action.

Several blight violations were observed by the Evart Police Officers. The officers sent out notification letters to the property owners. The property owners / tenants have 10 days to correct the violations to avoid being cited.

An officer investigated a suspicious situation complaint. The officer searched the building and the surrounding area. The officer secured the building, and contacted a key holder to advise them of the complaint.

May 24: An officer was dispatched to assist a local business on a disturbance complaint.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an abandoned dog complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant and the dog owner. The case was turned over to Animal Control.

An officer was dispatched to assist the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a complaint of a missing person.

May 25: An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint at the middle school. Photos were taken of the broken windows. The case is open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a trespass complaint involving juveniles. The officer made contact with the parents of the juveniles.

An officer was dispatched to a business regarding an alarm. The business was found to be secure and the alarm was due to system error.

An officer was dispatched to a Hit and Run accident in the parking lot of Mancino’s. There were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to a residence for a civil dispute. The officer stood by until an agreement was reached by both parties, requiring no further action.

May 26: An officer took a found property report (bike). The property was returned to the owner.

May 23: Officers responded to a complaint at a residence in the city where fireworks were set off in the victim’s mailbox and front porch the night before. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to an alarm at a residence. The alarm was found to be a smoke detector in a vacant house. There were no problems.

Officers assisted a motorist on US 10 where rocks fell out of the bed of a truck. The rocks were removed from the roadway.

Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. The building was checked and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

May 24: Officers were dispatched to a malicious destruction of property complaint. The complainant reported that an unknown person cut a 10 foot branch off her bush during the last couple days. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to a business in the city for a retail fraud complaint. The suspect had stolen two items from the store. The incident was captured by the stores video system. The suspect has been identified and the matter is under investigation.

May 25: Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department in locating a subject in the city.

Officers responded to a fail to pay for gas complaint at a gas station in the city. The subject pumped gas but did not have enough money to pay for it. The store agreed to allow the subject to return later in the day with payment. The subject later returned and the matter has been resolved.

Officers responded to a dispute. The complainant stated that people have been coming into their apartment complex and playing basketball. The subjects were causing problems with the complainant’s children. The subjects were advised not to return to the complex to use the basketball court since they are not residents of the complex.

Officers investigated a threats complaint. The complainant stated he was threatened by a person on rails to trails. The matter is under investigation.

Officers assisted the Traverse Narcotics Team on executing a search warrant at an apartment complex in the city where suspected drug dealers were residing. The warrant was executed and three subjects were arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail. A large quantity of drugs was also recovered.

May 26: Officers assisted a blind homeless subject at a business in finding a place to stay. The subject was put in contact with an area church that put the subject up in a motel for a few days.

The School Liaison Officer investigated a complaint where a student at the High School brought a knife to school. The student did not have any unlawful intent with the knife. The knife was confiscated and the matter is under investigation.

Officers investigated a threats/harassment complaint. The complainant was being harassed and threatened to give away his prescription drugs. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers assisted Child Protective Services in an abuse investigation. It was determined that the incident did not occur in Reed City and is being turned over to the appropriate police agency for further investigation.

Officers located an open door at a vacant business in the city. The building was checked and the property owner was notified.

Officers investigated a trespassing complaint. The complainant stated that the neighbor walks his dog through the complainant yard. The subject was located and advised not to walk the dog through the neighbor’s yard.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance between father and son. The son was arrested for aggravated domestic violence, disorderly conduct and an outstanding warrant. The father was arrested for domestic violence and disorderly conduct. Both subjects were lodged at the Osceola County Jail.

May 27: Officers assisted EMS on a medical run at a residence in the city. Everything was determined to be OK.

Officers responded to a private property damage accident at a business in the city. There was minor damage and no injuries. A report was completed.

Officers responded to another private property damage accident at the hospital. There was minor damage and no injuries. A report was completed.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers investigated a curfew violation complaint. The kids were given a formal warning and escorted home.

May 28: Officers assisted a subject in lodging a dog at the Animal Shelter that was running at large in the county.

Officers responded to the Hospital for a disorderly subject. The matter was resolved and there were no further problems.

May 29: Officers picked up a stray dog that was running at large and lodged it at the Animal Shelter.

Officers responded to an apartment complex for a disorderly subject banging on doors in the hallway. The subject was located and turned over to her caretaker. A warning was issued to the subject for disorderly conduct.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the city for a harassment complaint. The complaint was civil in nature. The complainant was advised on a course of action.

Officers responded to a bar in the city for a disorderly complaint. The subjects were talked to and advised to leave.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

May 22 to 26

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

May 22: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within the City of Evart for a fight in progress. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and discovered that an assault did occur between 2 subjects involved in a domestic relationship. At that time the deputies arrested the aggressor and transported them to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies were dispatched to Evart Township on the report of a missing O.R.V. rider, who was separated from his riding party and was missing. Upon arrival the deputies enlisted the help of several area fire departments and also activated the recreational officer to aid in the search. After a lengthy search, and while utilizing the sheriff’s office O.R.V., the lost subject was located within Cedar Township.

May 23: Deputies were dispatched to a Burdell Township on the report of someone stealing several cement statues from a grave site. Upon arrival the deputy completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

A deputy was dispatched to Leroy Township on the report of a larceny complaint. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that someone had removed the complainant’s wallet while he was at the Pine River High School. The deputy completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

May 24: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within the Village of Marion on the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that an assault possibly occurred, however one of the parties involved left the scene prior to deputies arrival. Deputies completed their investigation at the scene, but were unable to locate the second party. This case is open pending further interviews.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Middle Branch Township on the report of a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that someone had entered the complainant’s home, while they were away, and had taken several items. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident. This case is open pending additional investigation.

May 25: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within the City of Reed City on a criminal sexual conduct complaint. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and began their investigation, which included arresting the suspect on unrelated valid warrants. The suspect was then transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident, while this case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Osceola Township on the report of a larceny complaint. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had removed property from a pole barn, which belonged to the victim. The Deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

May 26: Deputies assisted the Traverse Narcotic’s Team with the service of a search warrant within the City of Reed City. The search warrant was completed without incident and the deputies cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.

Deputies arrested a subject within the City of Reed City on a valid warrant. The subject was secured and transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

May 26 and 27: The Osceola County D.A.R.E. officer completed D.A.R.E. graduations at Reed City and Pine River area schools. The graduations were completed without incident. The D.A.R.E. officer would also like to remind kids to stay safe this summer and to resist drugs and violence.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens to report any and all suspicious activity that is observed within their neighborhoods, and to contact the sheriff’s office if you have any information pertaining to the above complaints.
