March 7 to March 13

March 7: An officer was dispatched to a private property damage accident. There were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to a car/deer accident. There were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to assist the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a traffic accident.

An officer was dispatched to three harassment complaints. The officer spoke to the parties involved, and informed the suspects of the unwanted contact requested by the complainants.

An officer was dispatched to a disturbance at a local business. The officer spoke to the complainant, and escorted the suspect out of the business.

An officer investigated a suspicious situation at a local business. The officer searched the building, the surrounding area and found everything to be secure.

March 8: An officer was dispatched to a residence for a civil dispute. The officer stood by until an agreement was reached by both parties, requiring no further action.

An officer was dispatched to assist a local business owner.

An officer was dispatched to a property damage accident. There were no injuries.

While on a traffic stop an officer identified a passenger as having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to OCSD and lodged on charges.

An officer was dispatched to three harassment complaints. The officer spoke to the parties involved, and informed the suspects of the unwanted contact requested by the complainants.

An officer was dispatched to a residence for an area check. The officer searched the surrounding area and found everything to be secure.

March 9: An officer handled an obscenity complaint involving a minor. The case is open pending further investigation.

March 11: An officer was dispatched to a residence to assist a citizen with a civil stand by.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an assault. The officer spoke to the parties involved, and the case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecutor for review.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a violation of a Personal Protection Order. The officer spoke to the complainant and witnesses, and the case was forwarded to Circuit Court.

March 12: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an arson complaint. The officer spoke to the parties involved, and the case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecutor for review.

March 13: An officer was dispatched to a local business reference a disorderly conduct complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant and the two suspects were arrested, transported to Osceola County Jail and lodged on charges.

An officer was dispatched to the Reed City Hospital to make contact with an individual who wanted to report an assault. The officer spoke to the complainant, and the case is open pending further investigation.

March 8: Officers were dispatched to N Park St for a property damage accident. There was minor damage and no injuries. A report was completed.

Officers responded to a larceny complaint at a residence in the city. Pills were stolen from the residence. A possible suspect has been identified and the matter remains under investigation.

March 9: Officers responded to the area of W Todd Ave near S Higbee St for a possible fire. Officers checked the area and there was no fire.

Officers assisted EMS on a medical run where a female at an apartment complex had shortness of breath.

Officers were dispatched to a property damage accident on S Higbee St near Alley 7. There were no injuries and only minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers responded to a private property damage accident at the High School. There were no injuries and only minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers located a subject that had an outstanding warrant out of the 77th District Court – Big Rapids for failure to appear. The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were advised of a possible suicidal subject that was driving in the area near Yoplait. The vehicle and driver were located and stopped. The driver was found to operating while intoxicated and also had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

March 10: The School Liaison Officer investigated a possible minor in possession of alcohol complaint that happened at the school the day before. The students were interviewed and the matter is being handled by the school administration.

The School Liaison Officer responded to the elementary school for an out of control student. The student was talked to and calmed down. There were no further incidents.

Officer’s stoodby at an apartment complex in the city for a child custody exchange. There were no problems during the exchange.

Officers handled a private property damage accident at the G.T. Norman Elementary School. There were no injuries and only minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call. A subject was assaulted by his son. The son was arrested for domestic assault and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers checked the area near Stoney Creek Apartments for down power lines.

March 11: The School Liaison Officer investigated an assault complaint between two female students that occurred at the High School. A report was completed and submitted to the prosecutor for review.

Officers responded to a property damage accident that occurred at the intersection of W Slosson Ave and Park St. There were no injuries and only minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers were dispatched to a harassment complaint that occurred at a business in the city. A report was completed.

Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. The building was checked and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

March 12: Officers located a female subject that had a felony warrant for non-sufficient funds check. The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were dispatched to a retail fraud complaint at a business in the city. A subject had stolen a pre-paid phone and a phone card. The matter is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Reed City Police Department.

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department with multiple property damage accidents on U.S. 10 near 180th Ave.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that there was an open container of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was given an appearance citation at the scene and released.

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on a flee and elude on S Roth St near 3 Mile Rd. The suspect was located and arrested by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on multiple charges.

March 13: Officers investigated a harassment complaint. The complainant’s daughter was being harassed by another subject. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to the area of W Slosson Ave for a complaint of a vehicle being egged. A report was completed and officers checked the area attempting to locate the suspects.

Officers were dispatched to a barking dog complaint at a residence in the city. The owner of the dogs was not home at the time. Officers will follow up on the matter.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

March 6 to March 12

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

March 6: Deputies investigated 1 vehicle crash with injuries and 1 vehicle crash, which occurred within Highland and Sherman Townships.

Deputies were dispatched to a location within the City of Reed City on the report of a business alarm. Upon arrival the deputies discovered the building to be secure, and cleared the scene without incident.

March 7: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Sherman Township on the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and through investigation discovered that an assault had occurred. At that time the deputies placed the aggressor under arrest for this incident and transported them to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

A deputy investigated a breaking and entering complaint which occurred within Marion Township. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that someone had forced open an entry door to the garage, but it did not appear that any items were taken. The deputy completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

March 8: Deputies investigated 4 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Hersey, Leroy and Osceola.

A deputy investigated a breaking and entering complaint which occurred within Leroy Township. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that someone had entered the complainant’s residence and had taken several items. Through investigation the deputy located shoe impressions in the fresh snow and followed them to a residence within Lincoln Township. Through further investigation and interviews the deputy was able to identify the suspects. This case is open pending further investigation, but will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for charges.

March 9: Deputies investigated 4 vehicle crashes and 2 vehicle crashes with injuries, which occurred within the City of Evart, Highland, Sherman, Middle Branch, Richmond, and Hersey Townships.

A deputy investigated a violation of a personal protection order complaint, which occurred within Richmond Township. Upon arrival the deputy completed his investigation and forwarded his report to the Osceola County Circuit Court for review.

March 10: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within the Village of Marion on the report of a domestic assault complaint. Upon arrival the deputies met with the victim and a secondary location, who stated they were assaulted by their spouse. Deputies then made contact with the suspect in this case, and through investigation determined that an assault had occurred. Deputies then placed the suspect under arrest for this incident, and transported them to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes and 1 vehicle crash with injuries, which occurred within Richmond and Highland Townships.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within the Village of Marion for an equipment violation. Through further investigation it was determined that the operator was driving on a suspended license. The operator was then taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

March 11: A deputy investigated an assault complaint that occurred within Osceola Township. Upon arrival the deputy discovered that the suspect had intentionally spit on the 2 victims. The deputy completed his investigation and forwarded this report to the Prosecutor’s Office and probate court for review.

March 12: Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Richmond and Hersey Townships.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Marion Township on the report of a breaking and entering complaint. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had forced open the front door of the residence, and had removed several items. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident. This case is open pending further investigation.

The Osceola County D.A.R.E. officer continued drug and resistance education training at local schools, where the topic of discussion was alcohol use and alcohol advertising.
