March 21 to March 26

March 21: An officer was dispatched to two harassment complaints. The officer spoke to the parties involved, and informed the suspects to stop the unwanted contact.

March 22: An officer investigated a fraud complaint at a local business. The case is open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to an area check for a possible Malicious Destruction of Property (MDOP) complaint. The officer searched the area and discovered a storage facility that had paint all over it. The suspect was contacted and advised to clean up the damage to avoid charges.

March 23: An officer investigated a suspicious person complaint at a residence. The officer searched the building and the surrounding area. The officer was unable to locate the suspect.

An officer was dispatched to a property damage accident. There were no injuries.

An officer investigated a suspicious person complaint at a residence. The officer made contact with a subject who was intoxicated. The subject was transported to their residence by a third party.

March 24: An officer was dispatched to Reed City Hospital to transport a subject. The subject was found to be in need of medical attention and was transferred by EMS to another medical facility.

An officer investigated two fraud complaints at a local business. The cases are open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a residence for a harassment complaint. The officer stood by until an agreement was reached by both parties, requiring no further action.

March 26: An officer investigated a fraud complaint reported by a local business. The officer made contact with the subject and arrangements were made for the matter to be handled civilly at the request of the business owner.

March 21: Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation, it was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers responded to an apartment complex to investigate a trespassing complaint. While at the complex a subject with a bottle of vodka noticed the officer and threw the vodka bottle and took off running. The subject was apprehended and found to be on probation. The subject was arrested for probation violation and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers responded to the Reed City Motel for a disorderly person. The subject was located and found to have multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers responded to a dog at large complaint. The dog owner was located and given a warning.

Officers issued an abatement notice for an unlicensed vehicle. Further enforcement action will be taken if the violation is not corrected.

March 22: Officers located an open door at a business in the city. The building was searched and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

March 23: Officers responded to a larceny complaint. The complainant stated that his bike was stolen from his shed. A report was completed and the matter remains under investigation.

Officers stopped a vehicle for having no license plate. The driver was found to be operating the vehicle on a suspended license and also had an outstanding warrant for contempt of court out of Grand Traverse County. The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers assisted doing traffic control on E Church St where a semi truck was stuck in the snow.

Officers responded to Spectrum Health for a private property damage accident. A semi truck had struck a light pole in the parking lot causing minor damage. There were no injuries and a report was completed.

March 24: Officers responded to Spectrum Health Hospital for a disorderly mental patient. Officers got the subject under control and stood by until Evart Police arrived to transport the subjec to the Hadley Center.

Officers responded to a hit and run private property damage accident. The complainant went into the store and retuned to find that someone had hit his vehicle. There was minor damage. The incident is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to a landlord/tenant dispute. Both parties were advised that it was a civil matter and provided with a course of action.

Officers were given a be on the lookout for an erratic, possibly drunk driver. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver was found to be sober and was given a warning about his driving.

March 25: Officers were dispatched to a family dispute. Officers arrived on scene to find that it was an argument between father and daughter. Both parties were advised on a course of action.

Officers responded to a harassment complaint. The complainant stated she was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend over a vehicle. It was discovered that the vehicle was owned by both parties. No action was taken as it was a civil dispute over the vehicle, not harassment.

Officers located a stray dog and placed it at the Osceola County Animal Shelter.

March 26: Officers responded to an alarm at a business in the city. The building was checked and found to be secure. The alarm was determined to be false.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver, who was under the age of 21 had cans of beer in the vehicle with him. The driver was given an appearance citation at the scene and released.

Officers were dispatched to a business in the city for a harassment complaint. The store employees were receiving harassing calls from an unknown subject. A report was completed and the matter remains under investigation.

March 27: Officers responded to a parking complaint at a residence in the city. The complainant stated that the neighbor keeps blocking her driveway. The subject was located and given a warning.

Officers issued an abatement notice for an unlicensed vehicle. Further enforcement action will be taken if the violation is not corrected.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

March 20 to March 26

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

March 20: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Sylvan Township on the report of an active residential alarm. Upon arrival the deputies found the residence to be secure, and cleared the scene without incident.

Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash, which occurred within Hersey Township. The deputies completed this investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

March 21: Deputies investigated an assault and battery complaint, which occurred at a detention facility in Osceola Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that a resident intentionally spit upon a worker. The deputies completed their investigation and forwarded their report to Probate Court for review.

A deputy investigated a fraud complaint, which occurred within Hersey Township. Through investigation the deputy discovered that an unknown subject had withdrew some money from the complainant’s checking account. This case is open pending further investigation.

March 22: Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes with injuries and 1 vehicle crash. All incidents occurred within Evart, Richmond and Orient Townships.

March 23: Deputies investigated 6 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Rose Lake, Orient, Richmond and Burdell Townships.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Orient Township on the report of a disorderly person’s complaint. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that a resident of the household was being disorderly and the complainant’s wished for them to leave. The deputies secured the scene and were able to reach a resolution to which everyone was in agreement to. The deputies then cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.

March 24: Deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Hartwick and Hersey Townships.

A deputy arrested a subject within the City of Reed City, as the subject had a valid warrant, which was issued out of the Osceola County Courts. The subject was taken into custody and was lodged at the Osceola County Jail.

March 25: Deputies investigated a cruelty to animals complaint, which occurred within Rose Lake Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that several cows have been neglected food and water for quite some time. The deputies made contact with the owner, who at that time provided the animals with the necessary provisions. This case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review and charges.

Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes which occurred within Evart and Osceola Townships.

March 26: Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Hartwick Township for a speeding infraction. Through investigation the deputies discovered that the operator was in possession of narcotics along with operating their vehicle while under the influence of drugs. The deputies placed the operator under arrest and transported them to the Osceola County jail.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind citizens to report any and all suspicious activity that is observed within their neighborhoods, and to contact the sheriff’s office if you have any information pertaining to the above complaints.

Police Report

March 21 to March 28

Additional information regarding a few significant issues:

A Trooper was dispatched to a salvage yard on March 21 regarding a stolen scrap metal complaint. The suspect had stolen scrap metal from an area business. The victim business owner followed the suspect to the salvage yard and called for police. Because of the victim’s diligence, the Trooper was able to catch the suspect with the stolen property still in his possession. A larceny warrant is being sought for the 40 year old suspect.

A Trooper was dispatched to an area school on March 22 regarding a student in possession of Marijuana. Investigation confirmed the 17 year old student had brought marijuana to the school. The student was arrested and lodged in the Osceola County Jail for possession of marijuana in a school zone.

Two troopers were dispatched to a residence in Marion regarding domestic assault. The caller reported that a 26 year old Marion man had punched his girlfriend. Investigation revealed that the man had assaulted two females, and attempted to prevent them from calling 911. The suspect had also broken into his girlfriend’s residence on an earlier date. When troopers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he jumped out of a window and attempted to flee. He was arrested for Simple Assault, Domestic Assault, Home Invasion, and Tampering with Telecommunications. He was lodged in the Osceola County Jail.
