Police Report

Aug. 1 to 7

Aug. 2: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a complaint of a disorderly person. The suspect was arrested, transported to OCSD and lodged on charges.

An officer was dispatched to two residences reference suspicious persons walking around houses in the dark. The officer searched the areas and was unable to locate the suspects.

An officer was dispatched to a harassment complaint. The officer advised the parties to avoid further contact with each other.

An officer was dispatched to a business reference an alarm. The officer searched the business and the surrounding area. The alarm was caused by a power outage.

Aug. 3: An officer was dispatched to a complaint of a suspicious situation; an adult individual was reported to be riding a stolen bicycle. The officer searched the areas and was unable to locate the suspect.

An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint at a residence. The officer took pictures of the dented car. The case is open pending further investigation.

While on patrol an officer identified an individual as having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to OCSD and lodged on charges.

While on patrol an officer observed the door to a business was open. The officer searched the business and the surrounding area. The officer contacted the key holder to come to the business and secure all doors and buildings.

An officer took a found property report (blue youth sweatshirt, with “Princess” on the front.). The property will be kept at the Police Department for 30 days or until claimed by the owner.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a civil matter. The officer stood by until the parties reached a mutual agreement.

An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint at a residence. The officer took pictures of the damaged water spigot. The case is open pending further investigation.

Aug. 4: An officer was dispatched to assist a home owner with an individual who was trespassing. The officer spoke to the individual and advised they are no longer allowed to enter onto the property of that home owner.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an alarm. The officer searched the residence and the surrounding area.

Aug. 5: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference the violation of a Personal Protection order. The officer spoke to the complainant, and the case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for review.

Aug. 7: An officer was dispatched to a property damage accident. There were no injuries.

An officer assisted a home owner with serving a No Trespass Order.

An officer was dispatched to a complaint of a suspicious situation; an intoxicated individual was walking around. The officer searched the area and was unable to locate the suspect.

Aug. 1: Officers responded to a residence in the city for a well being check. The complainant stated he had not heard from his elderly friend in a few days and was worried about him. Officers checked the residence and learned from a neighbor that the subject was in the hospital.

Officers issued grass/trash abatement for an address in the city. The property was cluttered junk and overgrown grass. The property owner has the allotted time to correct the violation or a citation will be issued.

Aug. 2: Officers were dispatched to a residence in the city where someone had thrown rocks into the complainant’s yard. A report was completed and officers have been giving the area extra patrols.

Officers responded to a private property damage accident at the Hospital. The complainant backed into a parked car. There was minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers were dispatched to a business in the city for a retail fraud complaint involving three juveniles. The complainant stated that the suspects stole a bottle of wine and a lighter. The suspects have been identified and the matter has been forwarded to probate court for action.

Officers responded to a well being check on a possibly suicidal female at an apartment complex in the city. Officers talked with the subject and found that she was not suicidal.

Aug. 3: Officers provided traffic assistance on US 10 for the Moving Wall with the Vietnam Veterans.

Officers were dispatched to a found property complaint. The complainant noticed an abandoned bicycle in the area. The bike was taken and placed into property at the department.

Aug. 4: Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival it was discovered that it was a verbal argument only. The male subject had gathered his belongings and left. There were no further problems.

Officers were dispatched to a business in the city for a private property damage accident. Tow vehicles in the parking lot had crashed into each other. There was only minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was discovered that the driver was operating without his license in his possession. The driver was given an appearance citation and released at the scene.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in the city for a well being check on the complainant’s children. The complainant stated he believed the Mother of the children was not taking proper care of them. Officers checked the residence and the children and found everything to be OK and there were no issues.

Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city. The building was searched and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

Aug. 5: Officers were dispatched to a threats complaint. It was discovered that the incident occurred in Morley and was turned over to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a traffic stop on Northland Dr. where one of the occupants fled from the vehicle. Officers assisted in securing the scene.

Officers responded to the Reed City Motel for a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival it was discovered that the suspect, who was also on probation had been drinking and assaulted his wife. The male suspect was arrested for domestic violence as well as violating his probation conditions and was lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city. The building was searched and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

Aug. 6: Officers assisted the Michigan State Police at a residence in the city where they were attempting to locate a wanted subject.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the city for a juvenile run away complaint. The child refused to listen to her guardian and left the house. The juvenile was located, returned home and counseled.

Aug. 7: Officers assisted the Evart Police department by delivering a message to a subject in Reed City.

Officers responded to a business outside of the city for a car alarm going off. The property and vehicle was checked and everything was found to be OK.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

July 31 to Aug. 6 

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

July 31: Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Leroy Township for driving on a closed road. Through investigation the deputies discovered that the operator was driving their vehicle while under the influence on intoxicating liquor. The operator was then taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County jail without incident.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Lincoln Township for failing to signal and for the operator failing to wear their safety belt. Through investigation the deputies determined that the operator was operating their vehicle while intoxicated. The operator was then arrested and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident. Also a passenger in the same vehicle was found to be in possession of an open intoxicant. This subject was issued an appearance citation and was released from the scene.

Aug. 1: Deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Burdell, Sylvan and Sherman Townships.

A sergeant was dispatched to a residence within Evart Township on the report of O.R.V.’S damaging a fence and the county road. Through investigation the sergeant was able to locate the subjects responsible for this act. The sergeant cleared the scene once his investigation was complete, and forwarded this report to the Prosecutor’s Office for charges.

Aug. 2: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Lincoln Township on the report of a domestic assault complaint. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and determined that an assault did occur between a couple involved in a domestic relationship. The offender was taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies responded to Oakland County to pick-up a subject on a valid warrant, which was issued out of Osceola County. The transport was completed without incident.

Aug. 3: The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit assisted the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office with the search of a subject involved in an assault complaint. The search was completed without incident, and the K-9 unit returned to the county.

Deputies investigated a larceny from a motor vehicle, which occurred within Burdell Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that the victim left his vehicle unsecured, while it was parked in a parking lot, and discovered that someone had taken several items from within his vehicle. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

Aug. 4: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Marion Township for an equipment violation. Through investigation the deputy discovered that the operator was in possession of an open intoxicants, had an improper registration plate on their vehicle and was operating their vehicle without insurance. At that time the deputy issued the driver appearance citations for these offences, and had the vehicle impounded. The deputy then cleared the scene once his investigation was completed.

Deputies investigated a larceny complaint which occurred at a cemetery within Leroy Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had taken a transformer, which belonged to Consumer’s Energy. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

Aug. 5: Deputies investigated an O.R.V. crash with injuries, which occurred within Hartwick Township. Upon arrival the deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

Aug. 6: Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes involving injuries. The incidents occurred within Highland and Hartwick Townships.

Deputies assisted the Village of Marion with traffic control for the Old Fashion Days Parade. The traffic assist was completed without incident.
