July 26: Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  It was discovered that the driver was operating on a suspended license.  The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers did a well being check on an elderly female at a residence in the city.  The elderly female called dispatch and seemed confused about the whereabouts of her son.  Officers checked the elderly women and were able to locate her son.  Everything was ok.

Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city.  The building was searched and found to be ok.  The door was secured.

July 27: Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  It was discovered that the driver was operating without a license.  The driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the city for a possible domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival it was discovered that it was a verbal argument over belongings.  All parties were given a warning and there were no further problems.

July 28: Officers responded to a hit and run private property damage accident that occurred in the parking lot of an area business.  The complainant went inside the store and returned to find that their vehicle had been hit.  A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers picked up a female subject from the Isabella County Jail that had an outstanding warrant out of Reed City for failure to pay fines and costs.  The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail and lodged on the warrant without incident.

Officers stopped a commercial motor vehicle with an expired plate.  The driver was given a misdemeanor appearance citation at the scene and released.

Officers picked up a female subject from the Grand Traverse County Jail that had an outstanding warrant out of Reed City for felony non-sufficient funds checks as well as two failure to appear for arraignment warrants.  The subject was transported to the Osceola County Jail and lodged on the warrants without incident.

Officers on patrol located residences that were in violation of the grass abatement ordinance.  The property owners are being identified and notices will be sent to them to correct the violation or further enforcement action will be taken.

Officers responded to a well being check on a possibly suicidal female at an apartment complex in the city.  Officers checked on the subject and she was not suicidal.

Officers responded to Spectrum Health Hospital for a larceny from vehicle complaint.  The complainant had items stolen from her vehicle.  A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

July 29: Officers on patrol located a vehicle with a forged registration tab.  The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in the city for a disorderly call.  The caller reported that two teenage minors were using foul language in front of his children.  The suspects were located and their parents were notified.

Officers on patrol located two subjects that were in violation of the city curfew.  The subjects were escorted home with a warning.

July 30: Officers responded to a threats complaint.  Upon investigation it was determined that the matter did not constitute threats.

July 31: Officers located a residence that was in violation of the trash and grass regulations.  Officers are attempting to locate and serve notices on the property owner.

Officers responded to an apartment complex in the city with EMS for an attempted suicide.  The subject had barricaded the front door.  Officers were able to gain entry into the apartment by a window.  EMS arrived and took care of the subject.

Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of Church St and S Chestnut St.  Both drivers of the vehicle were transported to the hospital by EMS.  The accident was caused due to one of the vehicles driving without it’s headlights on.  The second vehicle turned in front of the vehicle without headlights causing a head on collision.  The matter is under investigation.  Alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

July 25: An officer was dispatched to a complaint of a violation of a Personal Protection Order.  The case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for review.

Several blight violations were observed by the Evart Police Officers. The officers sent out notification letters to the property owners. The property owners / tenants have 10 days to correct the violations to avoid being cited.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a 911 hang up.  The officer spoke to the home owner and cleared the scene requiring no further action.

An officer was dispatched to Riverside park reference a complaint of two subjects loitering near camp sites.  The officer spoke to the complainant, but was unable to locate the suspects.

July 26: An officer took two found property reports (Silver men’s bike & metal boat).  The property will be kept at the Evart Police Department for 30 days or until claimed by the owners.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a barking dog complaint.  The officer checked the area and was unable to locate the dog.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a stolen bicycle.  The bicycle was a men’s silver Mongoose.  The case is open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a verbal domestic.  The officer spoke to the parties who were advised to resolve their differences in a civilized manner.

July 27: An officer was dispatched to a residence that appeared to have been broken into.  The officer processed the scene, and the case was turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for charges.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a 911 hang up.  The officer spoke to the home owner and cleared the scene requiring no further action.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a complaint of Criminal Sexual Conduct.  The officer spoke to the complainant, and the case was turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for review.

An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint.  Photos were taken of the damage.  The case is open pending further investigation.

July 28: An officer was dispatched to a noise complaint.  The officer made contact with the suspect and a citation was issued for loud music.

Information regarding a few significant cases being investigated:

A trooper was dispatched to a Green Twp. residence on July 28 regarding a stolen van.  The owner of the van had been caring for the suspect, a 21 year old female relative, after a recent drug overdose.  The suspect asked to borrow the victim’s van several times, but was denied access to the van.   The suspect then took the van without permission in the early morning hours of 07/28/11, while the victim slept.  Upon finding the van and suspect missing in the morning, the victim called police.  The suspect was eventually found by another relative was returned home with the van.  She was arrested for Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile (UDAA).  Evidence that the suspect had used the van to procure and use narcotics was found after her arrest.

While on patrol in Big Rapids Twp, troopers noticed a vehicle parked in a lot with both doors left open.  It appeared no one was around.  As troopers approached, a man suddenly shut both doors and exited the vehicle.  Troopers contacted the man, who advised he was waiting for a friend who was using the bathroom in the business.  A check of the 45 year old Cadillac man’s identification revealed he had two theft related warrants for his arrest out of another county.  The man was lodged in the Mecosta County Jail.
