July 18 to 24

July 18: An officer was dispatched to a noise complaint. The officer made contact with the suspect and a citation was issued for loud music.

An officer was dispatched to a Criminal Sexual Conduct complaint involving a minor. The case remains open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to a traffic complaint. The officer made contact with the suspect and a citation was issued for driving on a restricted license.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an open door. The officer searched the residence and the surrounding area. The officer sealed the door and contacted the key holder.

July 20: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a civil matter. The officer stood by until the parties reached a mutual agreement.

While on patrol an officer identified an individual as having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to OCSD and lodged on charges.

An officer was dispatched to a car deer accident. There were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to assist a business with an individual who was trespassing. The officer spoke to the individual and advised they are no longer allowed to enter onto the property of that business.

July 21: An officer was dispatched to a business reference an alarm. The officer searched the business and the surrounding area. The alarm was caused by occupant error.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference an intimidation complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant, and the case has been forwarded to the Osceola County Prosecutor.

An officer was dispatched to a check well being complaint. The officer spoke to all subjects involved and stood by until a mutual agreement was made.

An officer took a found property report (nylon belt and brown boots). The property will be kept at the Police Department for 30 days or until claimed by the owner.

July 22: An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint at a business. The officer took pictures of the slashed tire. The case is open pending further investigation.

An officer was dispatched to two assault complaints. The officer interviewed all parties and advised them to write out statements. The cases were forwarded to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for a review of charges.

July 23: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a neighbor dispute. The officer spoke to the parties involved and advise them to avoid each other to prevent any further problems.

July 24: An officer was dispatched to a two car property damage accident. There were no injuries.

While on patrol an officer identified an individual as having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was arrested, transported to OCSD and lodged on charges.

An officer was dispatched to a business in reference to an assault complaint. The suspect was arrested and transported to OCSD where they were lodged on charges.

July 18: Officers responded to the Hospital to assist with a combative patient. Officers were able to get the subject under control and discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for contempt of court. The subject was taken into custody upon being released from the hospital’s care and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were dispatched to a complaint of door to door salesmen in town. Officers located the subject and advised him to stop selling until the proper permit was obtained or he would be arrested. There were no further incidents.

July 19: Officers responded to a complaint of a subject selling magazine subscriptions door to door. The subject had been previously denied a peddler permit by the police department. The subject was located and arrested for peddling without a permit and was lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers went to a residence in the city to serve papers and discovered that the subject had an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Big Rapids City Police and Missaukee County Friend of Court. The subject was placed under arrest and turned over to the Big Rapids Police Department.

Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city. The building was searched and found to be secure.

July 20: Officers discovered a semi trailer parked at a business with the rear doors wide open. Upon checking the trailer it was discovered that the trailer was loaded with nothing of value.

July 21: Officers responded to a gas station in town for a complaint of a customer being unable to pay for his gas due to his debit card being overdrawn. An agreement was made for the subject to return the next day to pay for the fuel with cash.

Officers located a disturbance outside of a business in the city between a few subjects. Officers talked to the subjects and they were given a warning and advised to leave the area. There were no further problems.

Officers responded to a call of a possible domestic disturbance at a residence in the city. Officers arrived on scene to find an out of control, intoxicated female. No assault had taken but the female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and was lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident.

July 22: Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the city for an indecent exposure complaint between two juveniles. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the city. It was discovered that it was a verbal argument only and no assault had taken place. The parties were warned and there were no further problems.

July 23: Officers were dispatched to a civil parking complaint at an apartment complex in the city. The complainant was advised that the matter needed to be handled by the apartment manager.

Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city. The building was searched and found to be secure. The property owner was notified.

Officers responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex in the city. It was discovered that it was a verbal argument only and no assault had taken place. The parties agreed to separate for the night. There were no further problems.

July 24: Officers were dispatched to a noise complaint at an apartment complex in the city. Upon arrival there were no loud noises. The complaint was unfounded.

Officers responded to a call with EMS for a dead male subject found in his residence. Through investigation it was determined that there was no foul play and the subject died of natural causes.

A set of keys were found by the ball field on W Church St. The key chain contains 2 keys, a remote car door opener and a Rite Aid Wellness Card. If these keys are yours stop by the police department to pick them up.

Sheriff’s Report

July 17 to 23

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

July 17: A sergeant conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Richmond Township for a speeding infraction. Through investigation the sergeant discovered that the driver was in possession of suspected marijuana. The driver was then taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted the Big Rapids Public Safety Department with an armed robbery complaint. The K-9 unit assisted by tracking the suspected offender until the track had ended. The assist was completed without incident, and the K-9 unit returned to the county.

July 18: Deputies were dispatched to a residential alarm within the City of Reed City. Upon arrival the deputies found the building to be secure, and cleared the scene without incident.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Marion Township on the report of a subject attempting to harm themselves. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and the subject was transported to a hospital for treatment and a mental evaluation. The deputies then cleared the scene without incident.

July 19: A deputy found an open door on a business while doing a property inspection within Highland Township. The deputy then cleared the building, did not find any signs of forced entry and determined that the employees had forgotten to lock the door when they left. The owner was contacted and the door was secured. The deputy then cleared the scene without incident.

Deputies investigated a larceny of gasoline complaint, which occurred within Orient Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that a subject pumped several gallons of gasoline into their vehicle, and fled without paying. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

July 20: Deputies investigated six vehicle crashes. Incidents occurred within Cedar, Rose Lake, Evart and Sherman Townships.

A sergeant was dispatched to Cedar Township on the report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road, and the driver was unresponsive. Upon arrival the sergeant completed his investigation, and responded to the hospital to make contact with the driver. Through investigation the sergeant determined that the operator was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. The sergeant cleared the scene without incident, and forwarded his report to the Prosecutor’s Office for charges.

July 21: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Burdell Township on the report of a possible domestic assault. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and determined that this incident was a verbal argument. The deputies then separated the parties involved, and cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.

Deputies were dispatched to a business alarm within Richmond Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that the building was secure, and cleared the scene without incident.

July 22: A deputy was dispatched to Osceola Township on the report of a subject walking within the traffic lane of a main highway. Upon arrival the deputy made contact with the subject in question, and through investigation the deputy determined the subject to be in possession of suspected marijuana and was being drunk and disorderly. The subject was then arrested for these offences and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies were dispatched Lincoln Township on the report of a domestic assault complaint, which was in progress. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and determined that an assault did occur. After a short search the suspect was located and arrested for this incident. The suspect was then transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

July 23: Deputies assisted the Evart Police Department on the report of a domestic assault. Upon arrival the deputies provided scene security while the Evart officer completed their investigation. The deputies then cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Middle Branch Township on the report of a well-being check complaint. Upon arrival the deputies made contact with the subject, and confirmed that everything was fine. At that time the deputies transported the subject to a friend’s house, and cleared the scene without incident.
