Dec. 5 to 11

Dec. 5: An officer was dispatched to a two car accident, there were no injuries.

An officer investigated a complaint of domestic violence. The matter was forwarded to the Osceola County Prosecutor for review.

Dec. 6: An officer was dispatched to assist EMS on a medical call.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a trespassing complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant and the case was turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney for review.

An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a welfare check. The individual was found to be secure. The case is closed.

An officer was dispatched to assist a citizen who had locked their keys in their car. The officer stood by until a towing company arrived on scene to unlock the car.

Dec. 7: An officer was dispatched to a two car accident, there were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to assist the Michigan State Police on a shooting that occurred outside the city.

An officer was dispatched to a Malicious Destruction of Property complaint. Photos were taken of the damaged headstones. If anyone has any information concerning these damages, please contact the Evart Police Department.

Dec. 8: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a verbal domestic. The officer stood by until the parties were able to reach a civil agreement.

Dec. 9: An officer was dispatched to two separate auto accidents, there were no injuries.

An officer was dispatched to a civil dispute. The officer stood by until the parties reached a mutual agreement.

Dec. 10: An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a civil dispute concerning a property dispute. The officer advised the complainant that the matter would have to be resolved in civil court.

An officer assisted a business with two complaints of Failing to Return Rental Property. The cases are open pending further investigation.

Dec. 11: An officer was dispatched to a business reference an alarm. The officer searched the building and the surrounding area. The business was found to be secure and the alarm was due to a system malfunction.

Dec. 5: Officers responded to a residence in the city where a City DPW worker was chased by a dog while reading water meters. The owner of the dog was located and cited.

Officers were called to a gas station in town for a fail to pay for gas complaint. The driver of the vehicle was identified and stated she forgot to pay. The suspect returned and paid for the fuel and the matter is now closed.

Officers were dispatched to the Middle School for a child custody dispute between two parents. The parties were able to come to an agreement and the matter is closed.

Officers responded to a residence in the city for a possible suicidal subject. Officers arrived on scene and the subject agreed to be seen at the hospital. Upon release from the hospital the subject was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant out of Kent County for Identity Theft, she was lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Dec. 6: Officers were called to an apartment complex in the city for a noise/disorderly complaint. Upon arrival of the officers there was no noise. All parties were talked to and given warnings.

Officers responded to a car/deer property damage accident on E Church St near Wirth Dr. There were no injuries and minor damage. A report was completed.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a stalking complaint. The complainant was being stalked by her ex-boyfriend. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Officers on patrol located a subject walking on S Roth St that had an outstanding warrant for contempt of court and a warrant for probation violation out of Mecosta County. The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers were called for a well being check on an elderly female at an apartment complex in the city. The subject was located and found to be OK.

Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department with a suicidal subject at a residence in Leroy who had cut his wrists. Officers assisted in securing the scene and arresting another subject at the scene. Once the scene was secure the officer returned to patrol duties within the city.

Dec. 7: Officers were called to the hospital for a suicidal subject that had ripped out his IV and was attempting to leave the hospital. A court order had been obtained for involuntary hospitalization on the subject. Officers arrived on scene and the subject had fled North over the fence. Officers were able to locate the subject and took him in protective custody where he was returned to the hospital and later transported for treatment to the Hadley Psyc Unit in Ludington by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department.

Officers investigated a criminal sexual conduct complaint between a 15 year old female and a 16 year old male. The matter is under investigation at this time.

Officers investigated an assault complaint at the Elementary School. The matter is under investigation.

Officers were called for an abandoned vehicle at a business in the city. The vehicle was checked and impounded.

Officers were dispatched to a suspicious situation where the caller observed two children stuffing something into a bag near a residence. The area was checked and the kids were not located.

Officers responded to a bar in the city for a fight in progress. Upon arrival the fight was over and one of the subjects involved had left. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Dec. 8: Officers were called to an apartment complex for a noise complaint. Upon arrival officers made contact with the tenant and she was given a verbal warning.

Officers responded to a check fraud complaint. The complaint stated that someone had written a check from her checkbook. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Dec. 9: Officers were called for a soliciting without a permit complaint. Officers checked the area and were not able to locate the subjects.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the city for a larceny of cell phones complaint. The complainant stated that her ex-mother-in-law was over and when she left they noticed the cell phones were missing. The matter was investigated and it was determined that the child had placed the phone into a jacket pocket. The matter was unfounded.

Dec. 10: Officers were called to the Michigan State Police – Reed City Detachment for emergency call box activation outside the building. Officers checked the area and no one was around.

Dec. 11: Officers were called to an apartment complex in the city for a larceny of a van bench seat that was taken out of a van to move items. The owner returned to find the bench seat was no longer outside where she left it. The suspects were identified by witnesses. The suspects were located and questioned; the seat was located behind the building in the woods. The complainant did not wish to press charges and the matter is now closed.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

Dec. 4 to 10

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

Dec. 4: Deputies investigated a larceny from a garage complaint, which occurred within Sherman Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that someone had entered the complainant’s garage and took a power washer and other tools. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

Dec, 5: Deputies received a “be on the lookout” call for a possible intoxicated driver operating within Burdell Township. While in the area the vehicle was located and a traffic stop was conducted. Through investigation it was determined that said driver was experiencing some medical issues, therefore an ambulance was called and said driver was transported to the hospital without incident. The deputies then cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed.

A subject was picked up at the Isabella County jail on a valid Osceola County warrant. Said subject was then transported back to Osceola County without incident.

Dec. 6: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Hersey Township on the report of an assault and battery complaint that was in progress. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and discovered that a juvenile had assaulted several subjects with sticks and rocks along with destroying property. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene once their assistance was no longer needed. This case will be sent to the Prosecutor’s Office for charges.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Sylvan Township on the report of an assist to child protective services. Upon arrival the deputies spoke with the CPS worker, and discovered that the residence contained a possible meth lab. At that time the deputies secured the scene, and confirmed the meth lab suspicion. At that time the Traverse Narcotics Team was contacted and a perimeter was set up on the residence while a search warrant was obtained. Several hours later a subject wanted on an unrelated charge showed up at the scene, and he was taken into custody. The deputies then cleared the scene once their assistance to TNT was no longer needed.

Dec. 7: Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Leroy Township on the report of a subject attempting to harm themselves. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and determined that said subject was a danger to themselves and others. The subject was taken into protective custody and was transported to the hospital for treatment and a mental evaluation. Further investigation revealed that an occupant of the residence had a valid warrant issued for their arrest. This subject was then taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies investigated 6 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Richmond, Rose Lake, Sylvan, Osceola and Leroy Townships.

Dec. 8: Deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Orient, Hersey and Burdell Townships.

Dec. 9: Deputies investigated a breaking and entering complaint, which occurred within Sylvan Township. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene and discovered that someone had entered the seasonal cabin and took a Russian made pistol. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

Deputies investigated an assault and battery complaint, which occurred within Sylvan Township. Upon arrival the deputies began their investigation and cleared the scene. This incident is open pending further interviews and issuance of charges.

Dec. 10: Deputies investigated 3 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Evart and Hartwick Townships.

Deputies investigated a criminal sexual conduct complaint, which occurred within Lincoln Township. Upon arrival the deputies began their investigation and cleared the scene. This case is open pending further interviews and the issuance of charges.
