Evart Police Report — Aug. 20 to Aug. 26

08/20 An officer was dispatched to a welfare check. The individual was found to be secure. An officer was dispatched to a traffic hazard. The driver was having vehicle problems. The officer assisted the motorist in getting the vehicle out of the roadway.   08/21 An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a larceny complaint. The case remains open pending further investigation. An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a harassment complaint. The officer advised all parties to avoid further contact with each other.   08/22 An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a malicious destruction of property complaint. The case remains open pending further investigation. An officer was dispatched to a welfare check. The individuals were found to be secure.  
08/23 An officer took a found property report (license plate). The property will be kept at the Evart Police Department for 30 days or until claimed by the owner. An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a larceny from auto complaint. The case remains open pending further investigation. An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a “peeping Tom” complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant and made contact with the suspect. The case was turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney.  
08/24 An officer was dispatched to two residences reference harassment complaints. The officer advised all parties involved to avoid further contact with each other.  
08/25 While conducting a liquor inspection at a local business, an officer observed a probation violation. The case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney. An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a domestic violence complaint. The officer spoke to the complainant but was unable to locate the suspect. The case has been turned over to the Osceola County Prosecuting Attorney.   08/26 Several blight violations were observed by the Evart Police Officers. The officers sent out notification letters to the property owners. The property owners have 10 days to correct the violations to avoid being cited.  

Reed City Police Report — AUG. 20 TO AUG. 26

08/20 Officers responded to a residence for an assault complaint. The complainant reported that her son was at a friend’s house and was slapped across the face by an adult for misbehaving. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a domestic disturbance. An assault had taken place and two male subjects were arrested for domestic violence and lodged at the Osceola County Jail. Officers responded to an alarm at a business. Upon arrival the building was secure and the alarm was determined to be false. The property owner was notified.   08/21 Officers were dispatched to a residence with EMS for a suicidal subject that had cut herself. Upon arrival officers assisted EMS and the subject was transported to the hospital for treatment and an evaluation. Officers responded to a residence for a disorderly complaint. The complainant stated that their neighbors were on the porch yelling and swearing. Officers arrived on scene and talked with the suspects. A report was completed and submitted to the city attorney’s office for review. Officers were called to an apartment for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined that both parties had assaulted each other. Both subjects were arrested for domestic violence and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident. Officers were dispatched to a dog at large complaint in the 300 Block of W. Slosson Avenue Upon arrival the dogs could not be located. Officers responded to the area of W. Franklin Avenue for a complaint of someone using fireworks. Upon arrival no fireworks were observed or heard. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a noise complaint and party in the parking lot. Officers made contact with the tenants and the subjects that were there had left. The tenants were given a verbal warning.   08/22 Officers were called to an apartment complex for a suspicious package. Upon arrival the package was examined and determined to be a donation. Officers responded to an apartment complex for an out of control juvenile. The juvenile was talked to and the matter was resolved. Officers were called to a residence for a well being check. The complainant stated that the subject did not look right. Upon arrival the subject was located and talked to and everything was determined to be OK. Officers did an area check on S. Chestnut Street at Osceola St for a subject that was jumping in front of cars. Officers checked the area for the subject and he was not located. Officers responded to a residence with EMS for a death investigation. A subject at the residence was arrested for a parole violation. The death appears to be from a drug overdose; however the matter is still under investigation. Officers were dispatched to a business for an alarm. Upon arrival the building was checked and found to be secure. The alarm was determined to have been tripped from a bat. The property owner was called to the scene and the matter was resolved.   08/23 Officers responded to an apartment complex for a civil stand by. A subject wanted to retrieve his items from the apartment. There were no problems encountered. Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a malicious destruction of property complaint. The subject stated that someone had dented her car in numerous spots. A report was completed.   08/24 Officers responded to a residence for a harassment and intimidation complaint. The complainant was interviewed and the suspect has been identified. The matter is under investigation. Officers assisted Child Protective Services with a home inspection at a residence within the city. Officers were called to a residence for an open window complaint at a home where the owners were out of town. Officers checked the residence and it was determined to be secure. Officers did a well being check on a subject who was not able to be reached by phone. The subject was located and determined to be OK. Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. It was determined that the driver was operating the vehicle with an improper license plate. The driver was given an appearance citation at the scene and released. Officers assisted the Michigan State Police with a 911 hang up at a residence. Officers checked the residence and everything was determined to be OK. Officers assisted the Michigan State Police with a breaking and entering in progress. Officers held a perimeter and the suspect was later located and arrested by the State Police. Officers responded to a barking dog complaint in the area of Alley 7. The complaint was unfounded.   08/25 Officers were called to a residence for a larceny complaint. The complainant stated that a handheld gaming system was stolen from his residence. A report was completed and the matter is under investigation. Officers on patrol located a subject urinating on a building in the downtown area. The subject was given an appearance citation and released. Officers responded to a barking dog complaint in the area of Alley 7. The complaint was unfounded.   08/26 Officers were dispatched to a residence for an assault complaint.
