April 4

  • An officer was dispatched to a two car property damage accident, there were no injuries.
  • An officer was dispatched to assist the Michigan State Police on a vehicle search.
  • An officer was dispatched to two trespassing complaints. The officer spoke to the suspects and advised them of the No Trespassing Orders.

April 5

  • An officer was dispatched to assist the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a investigation.
  • An officer was dispatched to assist the Michigan State Police on a complaint of domestic assault.

April 6

  • An officer was dispatched to a civil dispute. The officer made contact with the parties involved and advised them to resolve their differences in a civilized manner.
  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a suspicious person who appeared to be confused. The officer made contact with the individual who was found to be secure and just out for a walk.

April 7

  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a noise complaint. The officer made contact with the suspect and advised them of the City’s ordinance.
  • An officer was dispatched to a two car private property damage accident, there were no injuries.

April 8

  • While on patrol an officer observed a residence with an open door. The officer was unable to make contact with the owner. The officer secured the door, and the case is open pending contact with the owner.
  • An officer was dispatched to a residence reference a welfare check. The individual was transported to the hospital for medical attention. The case is closed.

April 1

  • Officers on patrol were called to a vacant house for a call of an open door.  Officers arrived on scene and checked the residence and the door was secured.
  • Officers were dispatched to a residence in the city for a bicycle being found in the yard.  The bike was taken into safe keeping until claimed by the owner.

April 2

  • Officers responded to the Mecosta County Jail to pickup a subject wanted on a Reed City warrant for contempt of court.  The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a disorderly person complaint.  One of the subjects involved had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault out of the Mt. Pleasant State Police Post.  The subject was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.
  • Officers issued a trash abatement to a property owner that had their trash out too early.  The property owner has the allotted time to correct the violation or further enforcement action will be taken.
  • Officers responded to a residence in the city where a subject had an outstanding warrant out of Missaukee County for civil failure to appear.  The subject was located and lodged at the Osceola County Jail.
  • Officers assisted a stranded motorist on US 10.
  • Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city.  The building was searched and found to be secure.  The property owner was notified.
  • Officers responded to the area of 220th Ave and US 10 for a 911 hang up call from a cell phone.  Officers checked the area and nothing out of place was noted.

April 3

  • Officers assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department on a two vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of 220th Ave and 2 Mile Rd.  Once the scene was secure officers resumed normal patrol duties within the city.

April 4

  • Officers assisted EMS on a medical call at an apartment complex in the city.  An elderly female had fallen.
  • Officers were dispatched to the intersection of W. Upton Ave and Park St for a property damage accident.  There were no injuries and only minor damage.  A report was completed.
  • Officers responded to an apartment complex for a 911 hang up call.  Officers arrived on scene to find that a child was playing with the phone and everything was ok.
  • Officers were dispatched to a residence for a possible domestic.  Officers arrived on scene to find that it was a verbal argument only.  Warnings were issued to the parties involved.

April 5

  • Officers were called to W. Upton Ave for a semi blocking the street.  The driver was located and given a warning.
  • Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a call of a subject attempting to steal cable TV from a cable box located outside of the apartment unit.  The suspect was located and the matter was investigated.  A warrant request has been submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office seeking an arrest warrant.

April 6

  • Officers were called to an apartment complex for a possible domestic.  Officers arrived on scene and determined that it was a verbal argument only.  The parties were given a warning and the male subject was escorted off the property at the property manager’s request as he was not a resident.
  • Officers were called for a found bike complaint.  The bike was taken into safe keeping until claimed by the owner.
  • Officers were dispatched to a suspicious situation call.  The caller reported a suspicious person next to her driveway.  Officers arrived to the area and located and identified the subject who was looking for a friend that formerly lived in the neighborhood.
  • Officers responded to a business in the city for an alarm.  The building was checked and found to be secure.  The property owner was notified.
  • Officers on patrol located an open door at a business in the city.  The building was checked and found to be secure.  The property owner was notified.

April 7

  • Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex in the city for a child custody dispute.  The parties were talked to and provided with a course of action.
  • Officers responded to the area of W Franklin Ave for a noise complaint.  Upon arrival no noise was located.
  • Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for a domestic in progress call.  Officers arrived on scene and interviewed the parties involved.  The male suspect was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Osceola County Jail for domestic assault.  The victim received medical treatment at the hospital for her injuries.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.  It was discovered that the driver was operating on an expired license.  The driver was given an appearance citation at the scene and released.

April 8

  • Officers assisted the Osceola County Animal Control by picking up a stray dog on 220th Ave.  The dog was transported to the impound.
  • Officers were called to the Animal Control Shelter for two dogs being tied up outside the shelter.  Officers placed the stray dogs inside the shelter for the night.
  • Officers were called to a business in the city for a larceny from a motor vehicle complaint.  A bus was parked outside the business and entry was gained through the rear of the bus.  A report was completed and the matter is under investigation.

Osceola County

Sheriff’s Report

April 1 to 7

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated several complaints for the above week. The following is a brief summery for some of that activity which occurred.

April 1

  • Deputies were dispatched to a turfing complaint, which occurred within Sherman Township. Upon arrival the deputies discovered that a vehicle purposely destroyed the county roadway by driving recklessly. Through investigation the deputies located and identified the suspect in this case. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident. This case has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for charges.

April 2

  • Deputies investigated a damage to property complaint, which occurred within Highland Townships. Through investigation the deputies discovered that someone damaged a window on a wood chipper, and also took 6 tine pitch fork. The deputies completed their investigation and cleared the scene without incident.
  • A sergeant completed a liquor inspection, which occurred within Sherman Township. The inspection was completed without incident, and the sergeant cleared the scene.

April 3

  • A deputy investigated a larceny complaint, which occurred within Middle Branch Township. Through investigation it was determined that an unknown subject pulled up to the complainant’s beverage truck, and took two 15-packs of beer. The deputy completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.
  • Deputies investigated a vehicle crash with minor injuries, which occurred within Richmond Township. Through investigation it was determined that the at-fault vehicle failed to yield and caused said collision. The deputy issued citations in regards to this accident, and cleared the scene without incident.

April 4

  • Deputies were dispatched to a residence within the City of Reed City on the report of a noise complaint. Upon arrival the deputies patrolled the area, however we unable to locate the loud music, which was reported by the complainant. The deputies then cleared the scene without incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highland Township on the report of a residential alarm complaint. Upon arrival the deputies checked the scene, and found everything to be secure. The deputies then cleared the scene without incident.

April 5

  • A sergeant was dispatched to Highland Township on the report of a larceny complaint. Upon arrival the sergeant discovered that someone was cutting and removing a dead tree, which had fallen on the complainant’s property. The sergeant completed his investigation and cleared the scene without incident.

April 6

  • Deputies performed a traffic stop on a vehicle within Richmond Township for an equipment violation. Through investigation it was discovered that said operator had a valid warrant issued for their arrest, which was out of Wexford county. Said operator was taken into custody and was transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence within Sherman Township on the report of a domestic assault complaint. Upon arrival the deputies secured the scene, and discovered that an assault did occur between 2 subjects involved in a domestic relationship. At that time the aggressor was arrested at transported to the Osceola County Jail without incident.

April 7

  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle within Richmond Township for disregarding a stop sign. Through investigation it was discovered that said operator was operating their vehicle while intoxicated, and several underage passengers were intoxicated. The operator was arrested for O.W.I., one passenger was arrested for minor in possession of alcohol and resisting an officer, and several misdemeanor citations were issued to the rest of the underage and intoxicated passengers.
  • Deputies investigated 2 vehicle crashes, which occurred within Osceola and Richmond Townships.
