n Property Damage Accident: Officers responded to a property damage accident between two vehicles.

n 911 Hang-Up: Officers completed a welfare check following a 911 hang-up. Investigation revealed the call to be accidental.

n Animal Complaint: Officers responded to a complaint of a dog at large. The animal was transported to the Osceola County Animal Shelter and later retrieved by its owner.

n Assist MSP: Officers assisted the Michigan State Police in detaining a subject who had fled the scene of a traffic stop on foot.

n Harassment: Officers investigated a harassment complaint; the case remains open at this time.

n Disorderly/Warrant Arrest: Officers responded to a complaint of a disorderly male. The subject was found to have a warrant for his arrest. He was transported to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Department where he was lodged on the warrant and charges.

n Officers issued trespass papers on a 26-year-old woman at a local business.

n Officers were dispatched to a call of a juvenile in possession of marijuana. The juvenile was turned over to parents pending court action.

n Officers were called to assist with the EMS with a 70-year-old man who stated he had been assaulted and was having chest pains. After the EMS evaluation the man refused further treatment.

n Notice was served by the School Liaison Officer regarding truancy. The parents were notified of too many absences by their child this school year. Further instances could result in court action.

n Officers were dispatched to a call of possible inappropriate touching involving a juvenile. The matter is under investigation.

n Officers were dispatched to assist with back up for the Michigan State Police Department on a traffic stop in which the driver fled on foot. The driver was located and taken into custody minutes later. Officers stood by for officer safety while two of the three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody on various charges including outstanding warrants.

n Officers were called to local business regarding a forged check. The matter is under investigation.

n Officers spoke with a homeowner who had a sofa partially in the road. The homeowner explained it was to be in the trash and had mistaken the large trash pickup day. The sofa was removed without further incident.

n Officers performed a property inspection regarding a trash abatement situation.

n Officers were dispatched to assist the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety regarding an incident involving a juvenile who had eaten food possibly laced with marijuana.

Note to Parents:

There is has been an increase in using food as a way of using drugs. It is becoming more popular to put marijuana and other drugs into food such as brownies. Parents are encouraged to check juvenile’s food such as baked goods and candy if their child is acting suspiciously or are believed to be under the influence.
