An officer was dispatched to a situation of two minors who did not appear to be supervised. The officer made contact with the subjects and they were reunited with their parents.

The Reed City Police Department has received information that an unknown individual or individuals are calling and requesting money be sent for warrants or fines owed. The calls at this time are originating from New York. Any money collected by the Reed City Police Department for fines or warrants is done in person by a uniformed officer. The Reed City Police Department is asking you report any such activity and do not send money.

Officers performed a property check regarding tall grass and building material/lumber in the yard. The appropriate abatement was issued and a follow up inspection will follow.

Officers were requested to respond to a neighborhood complaint regarding a speeding vehicle that also appeared to be purposely revving up its loud engine, intimidating the neighborhood residents and causing concern for the safety of the young children living in and visiting the neighborhood. The matter is under investigation.

Officers received a complaint regarding bank fraud. The matter is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to an adult foster care home to assist with the transportation of a 53-year-old female to the emergency room at Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital. Although the individual had been contemplating hurting herself, she went with the officer to the ER without incident.

Officers were requested to perform a well-being check on a child that had not attended the last week of school. After several attempts and with the assistance of the Osceola County Sheriff's Department, it was found that the child had left town.

Officers were dispatched to assist the Osceola County Sheriff's Department in Hersey Township on a well-being check.

While on patrol, officers observed a residence to be in violation of City Ordinance 674.02 regarding tall grass. While attempting to make contact with the owner, Officers found it to be in violation of several other ordinances making it a dangerous dwelling. The officer will locate the owner and make the appropriate actions to take care of the violations.

Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex to locate and assist the person who had placed a call into 911. The individual had placed the call from a cell phone and then hung up without speaking to the dispatcher. Mecosta County Central Dispatch then called the number back several times to inquire if there was an emergency, only to be hung up on without a word. The 31-year-old female was located in one of the apartments and transported by the Osceola EMS to Spectrum Health Reed CityHospital for non-life threatening treatment.

Officers were dispatched to a local residence regarding a non-aggravated assault involving a 16-year-old male and a 41-year -old male. No injuries were reported and the matter is under investigation.

While conducting a traffic stop, officers found the vehicle to have a fraudulent license plate and no insurance. The driver of the vehicle stated he was interested in purchasing the car and was test driving it. Therefore he was unaware of the fraudulent license plate and that there was no insurance on the vehicle. Officers also found the 36-year-old female passenger to have three outstanding warrants. She was placed under arrest and lodged in the Osceola County Jail without incident. The vehicle was impounded.

Officers were requested to assist a Grand Traverse Tribal Police in monitoring a prisoner during a transportation stop.

While officers had pulled a car over for speeding, they found the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and to be in possession of marijuana. The 30-year-old male was arrested and lodged at the Osceola County Jail without incident.

Officers responded to a possible fraud investigation. An individual had purchased two phones off of Craig’s List and is now unable to use them. The matter is under investigation.

Officers were dispatched to a local residence regarding a loud noise violation. There, officers found a 29-year -old female intoxicated and passed out on the lawn, who was in need of assistance.  EMS was called and the individual was transported to Spectrum Health Reed City Hospital for treatment without incident.

Officers were called to a two-car property damage accident on West Stimson. The vehicle backed out of the drive into a parked vehicle.

Officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at a local business. Upon further investigation in was found to be a false alarm.
