Jurors in Youngs perjury case dismissed due to power outage
REED CITY — After deliberating throughout Friday afternoon, jurors in the Cliff Youngs perjury trial were released for the weekend due to power outages at the Osceola County courthouse.
Twice on Friday, jurors sent a note to Judge Scott Hill-Kennedy asking for further guidance in reaching a verdict. One of the notes asked for instructions on a “split” jury, so they were read instructions for a deadlock.
The courthouse was left without electricity or heat after power outages swept Osceola, Mecosta and Lake counties on Friday.
Jurors will return to deliberate on Monday.
